Inspector Gadget

Inpsector Gadget was an immensely popular kids' TV cartoon that featured a bumbling policeman with no common sense and supplied him with every possible gadget known to man, as part of hbis body, his suit and his hat! The cartoon was very popular among my friends at school when it aired, and was one of my favourite cartoons of the 1990s. Inspector Gadget episodes ran for about 20 minutes each, and when they were shown on ITV, there was a break in a moment of peril as the lead character, Gadget, wound up in some trouble. Being a great cartoon fan, Inspector Gadget is another of my favourites (heck! what great 80s cartoon isnt?!) First lets look at the characters: Inspector Gadget - a police inspector with a difference. He has gadgets lurking all over his body - his arms, neck, feet, hands - everything is a gadget. People, I have watched repeats of Inspector Gadget every time they have come back on television. I know the plotline is nearly always the same (that is: penny and brain help out gadget, gadget thinks MAD agents are good guys and that brain is the MAD agent, Dr. Claw escapes at the end), but it is a timeless cartoon. The humour value plus the fact that everyone is cleverer than inspector gadget himself, and yet he still wins in the end, is absolutely classic. Even now, at the age of seventeen, I still adore "Inspector Gadget". So who cares if every episode has the same basic idea: Gadget gets sent on a mission from his boss who will usually appear in an unexpected place, Penny (Gadget's niece) tells her dog Brain to follow him to ensure that he stays out of danger, Gadget cocks the mission up, Penny and Brain sort it all out just in time for Gadget's boss to reappear, whilst Gadget recieves all the glory and his arch enemy Claw vows to seek revenge. I know this is going to sound really sad, but I love watching Inspector Gadget. Inspector Gadget is a cartoon, he is a kind of policeman, and he wears a Mac and a hat, which conceals all his gadgets. He has gadgets for everything you can think off, he says ”Go Go Gadget long legs.” to make his legs bigger, but a different gadget alway's happens, like he gets long arms instead.
