Newest Review: ... Dead Donkey that was based on the news reader. The main thing that puts me off ITN is the ferocious "scare-mongering" that they tend to just spring on the viewer. Whenever they say the word "lets see what this means for you" then you know straight away that there is a whole bunch of negative information coming your way in a manner that can actually make you worry quite a bit. The main thing they have done this to on many occasions is Swine Flu. Personally I don't like the methods that get applied here, and feel that this is just negative propaganda that doesn't have the correct impact to the viewer and can if not regu... more

Premium Review ITN: Personality Goes A Long Way! (1343 words)

I know things change on TV at a rapid rate, but do they have to change on ITV at such a negative and quick pace? By this I mean the coverage that ITN produce for the channel. As a kid growing up in the early eighties I can remember when the weekday News at 5.45 was just a 15 minute program that was presented in a formal and professional manner, with just a single square picture behind the presenter depicting the story in question, presenters in this case were Leonard Parkin or Peter Sissions. This was news bought to the audience in a simple and informative way at a time that meant that it was early enough to watch at the beginning of the evening schedule and ...  Read the complete review

I am the first to sympathise with all the farmers and live stock keepers who have been affected by the foot and mouth outbreak, but do we, as a nation of animal lovers have to be subjected to the horror and trauma of watching footage of these poor animals being slaughtered, loaded onto the backs of trucks with JCB's, dumped on the ground and burned? It seems to me that every time i turn on the news, these are the kind of pictures i find myself looking at. It's not only me who finds this very traumatic, my 13 year old daughter has cried rivers and had several nightmares. Although i appreciate that we have a right to be kept up to date with the ...  Read the complete review

ITN: Dumbing Down (220 words)

Now that the ITV companies have re-instated News At Ten, will the same quality of news be the same before the ill-fated move? I doubt it. For starters, the bulitin is a lot shorter. despite being billed as "News At TEN" it doesn't start until a couple of minutes after ten and finishes before the finishing time published. So, we've gone from a quality, thirty minute broadcast to half that and (at least in my network area) we no longer have regional news afterwards. In all, ITV have reduced the late news to one third now. The attention to detail is lower than before and no matter who the news anchor is, the quality will suffer of course. ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review ITN News Channel on Sky (239 words)

Yet another news channel has launched, but I have to say that I'm starting to sway slightly more in favour of ITN than Sky News. But why? Well, like Sky News there are regular updates on the main news events, sports news, money news etc etc. But there are some major differences. Firstly, the weather. It's presented as weather should be - here are the facts, if you don;t believe us stick your head out of the window sort of thing. Not like Sky where there are fancy graphics that make it look like you;re going to get a thunderstorm when in fact you'll be lucky if the ground gets damp. The major difference though is that there is a ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review ITN 10 oclock news - bring it back (109 words)

Bring back the news at ten isnt that what 99% of us are saying? It was a daft move in the beginning and about imte it was admitte an put to rights. But will the powers ;to be do that? In time I think they will but they will not admit they were wrong to change it. There is an old saying if it works leave it alone. I should think the ITV have lost a lot of viewers because of this. Everyone just watches the earlier news on BBC. So come on IITV bring back the news at 10 at 10 oclock. ...  Read the complete review
