Its a KnockoutNewest Review: ... minds eye a picture of him and Eddie Wearing in some very bad 70's suits and the sound of Stuart just laughing and laughing. I don't think this programme would really work these days - though Takeshi's castle does come close. We are all just a bit too sophisticated in our viewing to laugh at somene sliding down a ramp carrying a bucket of water!! The programme was probably quite hi tech in its day travelling around the country pitting town against neighbouring town - and it was quite an honour to be picked to appear. The games nearly always involved carrying water, knocking someone over or knocking someone over into water!! The games were... more |

This programme is one that I couldn't live without when I was a child - together with its European equivalent "Juex sans Frontiers" (not sure I spelt it right?!) Even now when I hear Stuart Hall commentating on the radio from the football on a starurday I have in my minds eye a picture of him and Eddie Wearing in some very bad 70's suits and the sound of Stuart just laughing and laughing. It's a Knockout bring back great memories for me as I used to watch it at my Gran's house. When I was little at weekends I used to stay the night my Gran's house and that's when I got to watch It's a Knockout. There is nothing like it anymore on television. The original series is what I am talking about here and it ran from 1966 to 1982. In it teams for places all over Britain used to complete in the silliest games you could ever think of while wearing even sillier costumes. It did not matter if it was raining or sunny they would just get on with the programme, it was even better if it was raining as falling over was more likely. The teams would get points ... Good, Clean Family Fun is what ‘It’s A Knockout’ is all about. ‘It’s A Knockout’ is a physical game show, and unlike the likes of ‘Fort Boyard’, ‘The Krypton Factor’ or ‘Gladiators’ and ‘Knights and Warriors’, anyone could be a contestant and you may feel as though you yourself along with some mates could put on a better show than some of the motley crews that get on. As a kid I used to love watching BBC’s Knockout and variations like Celebrity Knockout and International Knockout. It was some of the rare occasions that I actually switched to the Beeb on weekend ... Read the complete review

This programme is basically a game show, it’s a bit like the generation game being played by a larger team, in a park or somewhere like that. I can remember watching “It’s a knockout” years ago, when it was on the BBC. It used to be extremely popular, and had a huge audience of viewers. There was even an International version for a while such was its popularity. But like all things it ran it’s course and when viewing figures dropped the beeb decided enough was enough and carted it off to the old game show home, where it has remained ever since. So I was a bit surprised to see that Channel 5 had decided to ... Read the complete review

I defy anyone to watch It's A Knock Out and not raise at least a smile. On Channel 5 at around 6.00pm it will while away a pleasant hour chuckling at the antics of normal men and women. A team of fun loving contestants from three nearby towns compete against each other in a series of games and are awarded points accordingly. Many games take place in and with water which ensures that everyone gets wet through. Probably the funniest games of all are those where the contestants don a costume of a much larger than life figure and attempt to play football or race around over obstacles. Hilarious doesn't do justice to the spectacle. ... Read the complete review
