Advantages: An average family game show

Disadvantages: The presenters - they are awful

This programme is basically a game show, it’s a bit like the generation game being played by a larger team, in a park or somewhere like that.

I can remember watching “It’s a knockout” years ago, when it was on the BBC. It used to be extremely popular, and had a huge audience of viewers. There was even an International version for a while such was its popularity.

But like all things it ran it’s course and when viewing figures dropped the beeb decided enough was enough and carted it off to the old game show home, where it has remained ever since.

So I was a bit surprised to see that Channel 5 had decided to bring it back to our screens. Channels 5 haven’t really altered the format much from the original.

The programme consists of three teams from roughly the same area of the country taking part in silly games – Like who can carry buckets of water up a large slide that’s been greased, while the opposition pelt you with wet sponges, the team with the most water collected at the end wins. - Fun Eh? (Not). Most of these games have the contestants dressed up in large foam costumes of some description as well, just to make the games sillier I suppose.

Channels 5 have decided to show the programme at around 6pm on a Saturday aimed at the family audience, I would presume. In fairness it is clean family fun (must be all that water!) and bits can be quite funny, but once you’ve watched one show, the format becomes a bit wearing if you were to watch every week.

I’m sure there are loads of kids that would love it (probably lots of adults too) basically it’s a pretty inoffensive little programme that would probably get channel 5 some decent viewing figures and you would probably watch it because there’s nothing else on at that time on a Saturday evening.

Well you might until you actually watch the show, I lasted about 20 minutes.
r>The reason?

The presenters. One bad presenter is enough, but this programme has the two worst presenters ever. Whoever thought of pairing up these two must be a sadist. You have Keith Chegwin (the master of inane cackling and screeching) and Frank Bruno (Deep hearty chuckling that drives you mad – no wonder people used to knock him out. I think I’d have a go, if I had to listen to this for an hour). These two combined with a couple of blond bimbo’s picked obviously for their presentation skills – short tops large boobs – make this programme unwatchable (is that a word?) for me I’m afraid.

Channel 5 have done it again, taken a programme that would have been okay and completely ruined it, but they do that with most things unfortunately.

enjoyed your report. I used to share your opinion of Keith Chegwin, but have changed it since becoming a regular viewer of www.cheggersbedroom.com. It is one of the most entertaining websites I have found. Keith is a real hoot on it and better still, I have lost count of the stuff I have won on it!!!
