Newest Review: ... on her Twitter page. Is this news, is it as important as the issues with the Tamil's or the current political turmoil in this country, does it warrant as much attention as the issues we really do need to know about, well according to ITV yes. Its strange but it really does seem to me that the channel has stepped away from impartiality and is using any opportunity to sell itself, its cheap and a bit demeaning really, it takes effect away from other stories when you hear the headline '20,000 people may have died in Sri Lanka, the Pakistani Government retake areas from the Taliban and a little girl cried on Britains got Talent'. I do un... more

News at Ten used to be an institution with Sir Trevor McDonald presenting the show it offered up to the minute current affairs news, it left the last story for something stupid and irreverent but overall it was an interesting and informative 30 minutes of news and current affairs. Flip to present day, it looks less serious and sombre, it has two presenters of much less gravitas and for some reason this week they have felt the need to have stories about stupid things like Lily Allen mentioning who she wants to win Britains got Talent on her Twitter page. Is this news, is it as important as the issues with the Tamil's or the current political turmoil in this ...  Read the complete review

The programme is divided into 2 parts. The format is similar to the earlier slots in the day. National news 1st followed by local later in the show. Today a white male starts the presentation standing behind a desk later in the show he sits behind a waist high desk. He introduces the topics to be covered in today’s slot; these include what is to be a long report on an Iraqi terrorist killed in Iraq by F16, World cup tickets and the black market. A section on the markets includes the Footsie and Dow. At 22.50 hrs This is followed by local news from London Tonight with the local weather sponsored by Topps Tiles and a pollen forecast. Finally a return to the National News ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review ITV Nightly: Unimpressive news for sensationalist freeks (189 words)

Yes, well you can probably gather that I am not really an avid Nightly Night ITV news fan. It does help me to sleep though with it`s basically sensationalist news and `have you heard this...` style of presentation. Since dropping News at Ten (and of course now reverting back to it), ITV has lost the plot as far as news coverage goes. This evening is proof of my opinion. The newscaster tonight said that "Townsfolk are being warned not to go to the country" because of the new foot and mouth infestation. On the BBC (which I believe is told as it should be), we were told that the counrty farms are going to face yet another set of problems, but there was ...  Read the complete review

Well, ITN have revealed that they intend on going back to News at 10 at 10pm. Its about time. A lot of people cannot stay up until 11pm at night because they have to work. The 10pm time slot was much more reasonable and the News watchdog has advised them of that. So we are going to get the bongs at Ten and maybe the audience figures may go back up. they lost a lot of viewers through their new schedule and all because they wanted to show films all the way through without a break. I know i for one dont mind seeing the film in 2 halves if It means I get to see the news as well. It just goes to show you that sometimes when they get it wrong, the TV companies DO admit ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review ITV Nightly: Nightly News (216 words)

ITV dropped the Ten o' Clock News a I think it was a bold brave move, that was needed to inject some life into the channel. No longer will movies have to be interupted for half an hour for the news. That is no way to watch a film, in fact it is disgusting to do such a thing, and there would up roar if they did to cornation street, but no one cares about the films. Ok the ten o'clock news was better than the BBC, nine o'clock as it had better detailed stories but also included sports. Which BBC still neglect maybe becuase they have nothing to show. But the actual nightly bulletin is rather good, not only giving all the News but also ...  Read the complete review
