The programme is divided into 2 parts. The format is similar to the earlier slots in the day. National news 1st followed by local later in the show. Today a white male starts the presentation standing behind a desk later in the show he sits behind a waist high desk. He introduces the topics to be covered in today’s slot; these include what is to be a long report on an Iraqi terrorist killed in Iraq by F16, World cup tickets and the black market. A section on the markets includes the Footsie and Dow. At 22.50 hrs This is followed by local news from London Tonight with the local weather sponsored by Topps Tiles and a pollen forecast. Finally a return to the National News for a round up of the headlines (final report on the Iraqi situation) and a review of tomorrows newspapers and the national weather presented by Powergen. The graphics for both programmes are fluid and add considerably to the verbal reporting. Video coverage from around the world (tonight from Iraq, The Whitehouse, and London) often projected on the back screen behind the presentator.

At weekends the times are slightly different often a little later and shorter in length to fit in with the nights programme billing. Comments on these 2 shows are welcome.

MY OPINION

I’ve noticed the ITV presentations tend to be more report orientated than say channel 5, with fewer live in the studio interviews, on 5 the female broadcasters tend to wear more austere clothing. The night show at 1/2 an hour is a more enjoyable experience than the longer 1-hour shows earlier during the day.No commercial breaks either. The graphics and verbal content are amusing and relatively easy to assimilate. I think they have the most attractive female presenters as well, is this good news? Certainly not bad (I’m not paying, commercial TV and freeview).
