40 years on and still gathering fans (Ivor The Engine)

I can't believe this is still around - and I can't watch it! Gosh, Ivor The Engine after all these years, brought back for another generation of kids to enjoy. If I remember correctly this was a Peter Firmin and Oliver Postgate production, an endearing little 5 or 10 minute tale of a little locomotive in the Welsh valleys, complete with lyrically intoned narration. Oh what memories.
Ivor was a little Welsh Railway engine whose ambition was to sing in the choir like Evans the Song. See, you already think "ah, what a poor little loco, he wants to sing in the choir". His Engine Driver was Jones the Steam and he was fired by a dragon, who lived in his boiler, named Idris. It was all very fanciful but such a lovely tale. Innocent and so loveable.

Over the years Ivor has accumulated many fans and there is even a web page that has been set up for him and tells all about the history of his creation and has all manner of Ivor goodies that you can make or collect. It's nice to see him still much loved after all this time. I'm 46 now and can remember him from my childhood, even to hearing the story in my mind. wonderful!
If you have little ones, give them a gift of a lovely little slot on television that will give them wonderful memories for decades to come. Kids from about 2 will love this!
