This programme was very similar in many respects to the Crystal Maze but was made for children and shown on CITV up until a couple of years ago.

It had a few different presenters as it tended to appear for a couple of series and then disappear for a few years and then come back with a new presenter. The latest presenter was Michael Underwood who started his TV life as a presenter on BBC children's TV.

The idea of the game was to progress through a number of challenges in the jungle, and collect silver monkey statues. These statues each represented 10 seconds inside the Temple of the jungle King.

There were also some very disruptive monkeys on the set (well people dressed in monkey costumes) that would do their best to distract the children from the challenges and generally creat mayhem - these were often the funniest bits of the programme.

Many of the games would revolve around water and climbing, so were quite challenging and the set was quite large. Some of the games were more mental challenges, such as escaping from fort, rather than pysical ones so all abilities were catered for. there was also the possibility that you could fail the challenge and get locked in. If you did then, as with the crystal maze you would have to leave a monkey staue as a payment.

The final segment was wher ethe prizes were to be won. There were a number of challenges inside the Temple of the Jungle King, and as you solved each challenge you go either a stone,bronze, silver or Gold statue. You also needed to get back out before the time ran out in order to claim your prize otherwise you would be lock in the temple forever!!!!

I must confess I never saw anyone get the gold monkey they always seemed to run out of time or panic a bit too much and come out of the temple when they were close to solving the final puzzle.

Anyway this was good entertainment for children.

Summary: A childrens version of the crystal maze
