Advantages: clever, well written, funny, great cast, can't praise it enough !

Disadvantages: only 8 programmes in the series

I am one of those people who believes all the best sitcoms were written in the 1970s - Bless This House, Are You Being Served ?, Man About The House...

But Kiss Me Kate is one recent sitcom I watch and love. It is so well written, well observed and the acting and timing of the cast are faultless.

Caroline Quentin was outstanding in Men Behaving Badly, but in this sitcom, she plays a counsellor called Kate. Most of the action takes place in her office or at her house.

Besides Kate, the main cast are Mel (played by Amanda Holden) who is Kate's secretary ; Douglas (played by Chris Langham, who also writes it) who is very strange but endearing and gets many of the best lines ; and Craig (played by Darren Boyd) who is Mel's boyfriend.

A recent addition to the cast is Iain (Bill Nighy) who plays Douglas' brother with an uncanny knack of looking and sounding remarkably like him !

I have watched this programme since the first episode and it is now just over halfway through another series. There are eight programmes in this series, usually shown at 9:40pm on Saturday nights (sometimes Sundays) on BBC 1.

I would recommend it to anyone, I'm sure you will find yourself getting drawn into the lives of the characters and laughing along. Enjoy !
