Advantages: funny
Disadvantages: short
Most recently produced comedies just don't hit the right spot for me. I tend to searcg UKGold each night for the real oldies and I watch them over and over again. However 'Kiss Me Kate' proved to be the exception. Kate, played by Caroline Quentin, is a counsellor and the programmes are set in her office or at her house. We rarely, if ever, see anything else. Mel (Amanda Holden) is Kate's secretary and Craig is her boyfriend. Douglas, played by Chris Langham who wrote the series. Douglas is quite odd and strange looking but he is the sort of character who finds that things go wrong around him and we all say 'ah, what a shame!'. He does get your sympathy! Each episode is centred on the way those in the office work together. We do get a glimpse of a patient sometimes but it is usually a brief glimpse accompanied by a funny line or two. My favourite episode is the one where Craig is trying to organise a holiday for Kate because they all think she should have one. As usual Craig gets himself in a muddle and Kate gets the wrong end of the stick. There were only 8 episodes in the first series and I just started to get into it when it ended. However there is a second series. If you haven't watched this you should. It's a good laugh and you will enjoy it more if you watch regularly and get to know the characters. This is gentle comedy and there is no bad language or sexual innuendo so it is suitable for all the family to watch. I don't think that younger children will understand the humour but there is still no reason why they can't watch. A good laugh is the best therapy anybody can get!
