Advantages: Rated 17th Best show of all time, Virtual reality, 4-5 million viewers an episode

Disadvantages: none except cancelled in 1994

Knightmare is finaly back after leaving ITV in 1994 in its last series (series 8). Knightmare was cancelled by the ITV producers due to the fact that most of its target audience (kids 5-16) had moved onto alternative shows on the newly awaited Sky tv and Cable tv which had stormed the country in the early 90's offering a variety of shows. The news that Knightmare was cancelled and wasn't set to return with series 9 shocked everyone who had watched it over the 8 years it had been broadcasted gaining 4-5 million viewers a year. Knightmare was the first and best tv game show to use virtual reality displaying some amazing graphics adding to the realism and excitement of the show.

This show saw a group of 4 kids, 1 of which had to enter the dungeon blind folded by his helmet and be directed by his/her 3 friends avoiding traps ranging from a corridor of blades, ghastly enemies such as goblins while picking up clues and items which may help them on their quest which consisted of three levels. These levels got harder as the teams progressed and it was a rarity for any team to reach the level 3. Teams could last from anything 1 episode to 8 episodes.

As the years went by the show developed and became more impressive as years went by. For instance in series 4 a flying dragon could be summoned for a team to travel from level 1 to level 2. This always excited me as it looked so real and the scenery it flew over was beautiful.

After Knightmares exit from television broadcasting it was shortly repeated on the Sci Fi channel in 1998 showing all the series 1 to 8 but then cancelled since many people knew it had featured on this channel due to a poor advertising campaign. However Knightmare repeats are now back on Challenge TV every saturday and sunday at 10:00am and 5:00pm.

But even more exciting is Knightmare is being remade into a complely new show using all the latest technology hardware and engines which is sure to cost millions to po
unds to develop for our expenses. However the show is in early development but its progress can be viewed at the website (http://knightmare.v21hosting.co.uk/). It's updated on a monthly basis so keep a close eye on it. Also if you want to find further information on Knightmare i recommend the website (www.knightmare.com).

Overall i hope this has brought back memories to many of you and has been an educational expirience for those who havn't. Thankyou for reading and please leave some comments.

Also use to love watching Knightmare as a kid and have not seen it for years. Will watch on SKY TV at 17:00 to bring back great memories but I am much older at 24 but who cares still a classic kids TV series the Adults can also watch.

YAY! **memories of childhood flooding back** it was my fave programme and I was so upset when it was axed I LOVED it and was always wondering how to be a contestant, but at 23 I think I'm a little old to enter now but certainly not too old to tune in, can't wait.
