I was never really aware of this Mark Lammar until he appeared on Shooting stars ... what *is* he exactly? A presenter, a comic? Then of course he made the host of Never Mind The Buzcocks which is a really tip top show. His wittisisms and insults towards the guests are really classic. He’s a far better host than a comedian but combining both is seemingly hard. From the supremely odd introduction sequence that has his head superimposed on a naked baby’s body, singing some ghastly lyrics to the style of the show, he does himself no favours. Every show is supposed to tackle an issue but it is only vaguely covered. The guests are supposedly a representation of the topic that Lamarr is talking about but he covers very little ground and generally is an assault on the guest rather than the topic. Mark Lammar really is very witty. This show is like a second series of last years ‘Leaving the Twentieth Century’ but it just takes a different name. He does stand up, and has a couple of guests on to talk about the subject he has chosen for the show. The guest interviews can be a bit dull and he only has about one and a half minutes talking to them. There's hardly a point. He has done a show on manners. That was my favourite of the last series. He spoke of a Man called Ken Tucky. He joked that this man had not cashed in on the link with the KFC restaurant chain, and he opened a restaurant called “Ken Tucky Fries Chicken.” I ...
