Advantages: an easy to watch show - not too complicated

Disadvantages: it got cancelled after season 2! :(

Life is a very good solid TV Show. Don't expect any out-of-this-world stoylines or anything that's hard to believe (I.e. Heroes and Lost) but expect good writing and decent acting in this quirky cop drama.

Charlie Crews (Damien Lewis) is a cop back on the job after being locked up for 12 years in a top security prison for a murder he did not commit. Charlie is a changed man, he uses the way of Zen to help accept matters of life and he carries a knife around with him 'just in case'. Oh and he's been given $50m compensation! With this he buys a house, a car and employs his ex-dodgy CEO friend to look after his investments. With that taken care of he starts his new job as an LA Detective.

The overarching storyline is his private investigation into what really happened the night he was framed for his friend's murder and who are the people responsible. This takes twists and turns and gradually builds up suspense leaving the viewer really wanting to know who is behind this.

For me, the highlight of the show is Damian Lewis, his zany and often funny portrayal of an odd but calculated LA detective makes for great viewing and many a funny scene. I remember him from Band of Brothers (2001) and I really do rate him as an actor, even Spielberg rates him highly and he should be in more things!

Definately worth a look, I started watching casually as it's not too complicated but with colourful characters, good humour and an awesome soundtrack.
