At last...the day had arrived..we were going to see Little Britain Live in London! The four of us booked our tickets 18 months earlier and we were looking forward to it.
On the bus to the theatre we were discussing our favourite characters, which ones we thought we would be seeing...the ones we hoped we wouldn’t see. We read a few reviews...hilarious...super...so we were very excited!

It was a very big theatre to begin with and because we were on the balcony we couldn’t see that much. We just saw two little man standing on a stage. Didn’t matter...because hey...the jokes and sketches would be great...so why worry.

But after 5 minutes or so, the Lou and Andy sketch was over and the vulgar, tasteless jokes began...and unfortunately never ended. The row we were sitting in clearly thought the same because nobody was actually laughing. Part of the audience seemed to enjoy the show. We, on the other hand, used to Dutch quality theatre, found the sketches a pathetic attempt to make people laugh. We were so disappointed. Was this the show we had been waiting to see for more than a year?? Clearly not! A very easy way for Matt and David to earn money.

The interval was after 30 minutes...and thank God the show didnt’t last that long afterwards.
When the final sketch was over, we wanted to get out as quickly as possible, but...wait for it...there was one sketch still to come. The great Daffyd Thomas, singing a song about being gay, with Anthony Head dancing in some sort of ill-fitting leather outfit. We couldn’t imagine he was enjoying this..or even that he wanted to be a part of this show. Before the song was over we made our way to the exit and hopped on the first bus back to our hotel.

The only compliment we are willing to give is to the people who did the make up and helped Matt and David change into their different costumes so quickly.
A very sorry excuse for a theatre show! Eight thumbs down!
