Advantages: Hilarious and pushes the boundaries

Disadvantages: Will offend some

Every style of comedy has its place in society, so it is only fair that we should experience a piece of comedy that takes the proverbial out of itself and everything stereotypical about us Brits. Thankfully, it's a pair of Brits who do it, in the form of Matt Lucas and David Walliams in their hit show Little Britain. The pair have struggled to get the big break in comedy for a number of years, having experienced differing roles on TV, radio and on paper for a number of years before Little Britain was given the go ahead by some liberal BBC producers who thought it would take off.

It has taken the British public by storm with its outrageous and politically incorrect style of comedy, making fun of the disabled, being racist, sizeist, ageist, pretty much everything-ist, and getting away with it at the same time as making us laugh. Characters such as Lou and Andy, the carer and the disabled patient who isn't really disabled, and the OAP Anne who cannot refrain from urinating wherever or whenever she feels like. Also include Daffyd, the only gay in the village, as an outrageously gay Welshman, and other such characters, and take into account that they really are risking being hated by a good number of the population, Lucas and Walliams have taken a big risk and it has worked.

The comedy timing and genius scriptwriting makes me laugh out loud, or at least, it did for the firstg couple of years. They have now taken the show across the pond to the States, and have started doing the same with the American stereotypes, although I don't find it that funny and possibly thing it takes it too far and is more rude than funny. The comedy element seems to be lacking. It also needs to be said that Little Britain will not and does not appeal to everyone, and that there will naturally be those who find it downright rude and they should be ashamed of themselves.

However, I imagine these people are in the minority, and the majority I know like it and find it very funny. I am included in this group, although I do appreciate how it could easily offend. If it is on TV, do give it a go, but be prepared to be possibly offended, because if you fall into a British stereotype, you'll find yourself ridiculed on there.

Summary: Hilarious comedy that attacks our stereotypes
