Advantages: Used to be hilarious

Disadvantages: Matt and David just aren't funny any more

Little Britain started off as a radio show; it was later aired on BBC 3 in 2003. During this time characters have changed and the show has lost its appeal it once had.

I used to sit and watch Little Britain and the next day in work we'd all be saying the phrases to each other. We would roll around laughing at the jokes. In time I feel have started to grow more fond of Catherine Tate and more adult comedy. This was a good show to start with but I am surprised they got away with so much. Throughout the years my favorite characters are listed below.

Dafydd Thomas
---------------------
Dafydd is played by Lucas, he has to be one of my favorite characters he is so funny. Dafydd wears Lycra and drinks Bacardi and Coke and if your first thoughts are "he's gay" you'd be right - he's apparently the only gay in Llandewi Brefi. Throughout the course of the series though we met other gays and Dafydd is determined to be 'the only gay in the village'.

Marjory Dawes
---------------------
Marjory is played but Matt Lucas and is one of my favorite characters - Marjory is a cheeky fat woman who runs the local Fat-fighters club like slimming world or weight-watcher but not politically correct.

Sebastian Love
----------------------
This man is a little bit strange. Sebastian is played by David Walliams and is an assistant to the Prime Minister, he has a weird crush on his though. We see in a few episodes that he will strip off and cuddle up to the Prime Minister or even worse scare other foreign officials away with his creepy obsession. The funniest part the Prime Minister still doesn't realise what's going on!

Vicky Pollard
-------------------
Vicky is played by Matt Lucas and is my favorite character. When Little Britain first came out I recognised Vicky instantly she is stood on most streets in Plymouth. For a charity event I dressed up as Vicky Pollard, yep a bit of drag in there as well although I doubt you could tell, Vicky looks very much like a man anyway!

This has to be my favorite sketch where Vicky Finds out she is pregnant!

"I got the lurgy. Yeah I know because there was this whole fing 'cause I was down the arcade and Kelly flobbed on Destiny and a bit of it landed in my hair because Kelly hates Destiny because Destiny told Warren that Kelly pads her bra. It's true - Nathan reckons he put his hand down there and pulled out a bag of Jelly Tots."

Dame Sally Markham
-------------------------------
Sally is played by Matt Lucas. She is a big woman who writes novels, or so she thinks. She will get her secretary to type on an old typewriter but after finding out she has only got 200 odd words she will add fillings such as so they walked and walked and walked for another 100 words. A very funny sketch but also very repetitive.

Dennis Waterman
-------------------------
I think this sketch can be funny at times, but after you have seen it once or twice it gets a bit predictable. Dennis Waterman is played by David Walliams (a very small man) walks into Jeremy Rent's (Matt Lucas) Office and sits on a huge chair. He may be offered a part but he wants to "write the theme tune, sing the theme tune" rather than just 'star' in the show. His voice really bugs me.

Mr. Mann
--------------
Mr. Mann is played by David Walliams, and he always seems to go the same shop asking for really specific things. The shop keeper (Roy) Lucas, tries so hard to please and even calls up to his wife upstairs who has no legs or arms. "Margaret, Margaret". I think this sketch its brilliant especially when Mr. Mann asks for really specific items but I can get a little boring and predictable.

Kenny Craig
-------------------
Kenny Craig, played by Lucas, he thinks he is a great hypnotist but he is rubbish and no-one around him is affected but they usually pretend, like trying to convince a traffic warden that he didn't get a ticket. It's not until he sits with his nan in hospital that we realise how rubbish he is.

Emily Howard
--------------------
I live this character she is hilarious, Emily is played by David Walliams and is a transvestite. She isn't however convincing and people around her insist on calling her a man etc "Oh No I 'm a ladeeey, I do lady things like powder my nose". She will then do silly things like standing up to take a wee or wandering into a pub and buying a pint.

Anne
--------
Anne is played by David Walliams and is a patient in a 'mental institute; - I told you it wasn't politically correct. Anne likes to destroy everything and dig up plants. She is very funny, especially the way she talks or rather makes noise - eh eh ehhhh. When people aren't watching she will talk away on her phone as normal.

Ray McCooney
----------------------
Ray is played by David Walliams and is the owner of Ye Olde Hotel in Scotland. Ray likes to annoy customers by speaking in riddle and playing his flute. This sketch actually became quite funny in work when people would ask questions we would all turn around and say "if you ask me on a Wednesday I say yeeeeeees and if you ask me on a Thursday I still say 'yeeeeessss' and then play with a pretend flute, it soon wore off though!

Bubbles
------------
Bubbles is played by Matt Lucas and is a big lady who seems to be permanently staying at Hill Grange Health spa, she hasn't yet settled her bill and therefore flirts with the manager to do favours, a very dodgy sketch indeed.

Mr Cleeves
----------------
Mr. Cleves is played by Matt Lucas and is a teacher at Kelsey Grammar School. The school seems to be quite old fashioned with rows of chairs but the pupils and lessons are rather unconventional.

Liz and Clive
-------------------
Liz is played by David Walliams and Clive is played by Matt Lucas. The sketch always takes place in a restaurant but each time Liz has to announce to the various people sat around that she was a bridesmaid at Mollie Sugden's wedding, this clearly annoys her husband and I am sure it would annoy me too if my girlfriend did it all the time.

Lou and Andy
-------------------
When I first saw this sketch I was gob smacked that they could get away with it, then again it was surprising how they got away with most of it. Andy (Lucas) is wheelchair bound (or so we are led to believe) and Lou (Walliams) is his carer who has no idea what Andy gets up to when his back is turned. The sketch seems to work on a basic concept.

Gary and Jason
---------------------
Gary is played by Matt Lucas and Jason is played by David Walliams. Gary and Jason are two young friends. Whilst visiting Gary's grandmother, Jason falls in love with her and over the episodes we see him 'do things' to her. It's very dodgy indeed.

Harvey
-----------
This one is really dodgy Harvey (Walliams) is a young man who is dating his girlfriend Jane. The thing is he has never been weaned of breastfeeding and she calls it "bitty" well obviously he wants bitty all the time. I cringed when I watched the episode where Harvey met Jane's in laws and they were discussing wedding food and he said "I want bitty" and she got her boob out for him! He lied there like a baby - very disturbing.

Carol Beer
----------------
carol is played by David Walliams. The sketch is very funny and has resulted in a lot of messing about at work. Her catchphrase "Computer says No" is used almost everywhere as a joke. She is typically the sort of person you would find in a bank or job centre where the staff are so badly trained. I love this sketch!

Maggie Blackamoor and Judy Pike
--------------------------------------------
Two women who are in the WI, they buy items at charitable events but when finding out they have been made by someone from a different background be it sexually, ethnically or ability they projectile vomit, no point to it but it can be funny.

Overall I would say for nostalgia and the good old times where we would roll around at work being silly this show gets 10/10 however, now I would say the show barely scrapes through at 5/10 maybe a little bit more. After the first 2 series I started to lose interest in the sketches they had been done before and it was more a case of "been there, done it" and I feel they have over-egged the pudding slightly.

Saying that Matt and David are excellent actors and play a variety of roles very well, I can't imagine they'd be any good in stand-up for in terms of acting and comedy they are fantastic. I must say however Caterin Tate is far more talented and more entertaining.

If you haven't seen it (where have you been) I would recommend it but if you have seen it and not managed to get into it (my girlfriend hated it) then I wouldn't recommend it, nothings changed.

Summary: i used to love this show, shame it's lost the appeal, or i've just grown up!

I see the Ross and Brand haters are after this now on the BBC. They are so hit n miss but I did like the American one more. The astronaut is brillaint.
