Advantages: bubbles
Disadvantages: samey jokes
An original and often amusing comedy show written by and starring Matt Lucas and David Walliams. Here are some of my thoughts on the show:
* The length of the show is right, half an hour is ample and it keeps it fresh and tight
* Dafyd is a strong character, one of the highlights thanks to some awful costumes and horrible personality
* Not fond of the Bitty character which seems to be in bad taste
* Some jokes started funny yet are becoming very repetitious. Lou and Andy is a clever concept, but how many times can you play on the same joke that he can walk?
* Walliams seems to only have one voice, that camp raspy one. This means a lot of his characters sound the same
* Bubbles is superb and grotesque and has to be seen to be believed
* Tom Baker's voiceover is a credit to the show, prominent and commanding and always amusing
* The newer series seems to have descended into poor taste, using bodily functions like being sick as the mainstay of comedy
* Maybe more cast members would inject some new lifeblood into it? Walliams and Lucas are great but are they running out of steam?
Verdict: A hilarious show, but maybe some of the jokes are scraping the barrell.

- 07/02/09 I agree, it's getting a bit thin now. |
