Advantages: Has quite frequent funny moments

Disadvantages: Repetitive, certain presenters are quite annoying

Loose Women is the kind of program you can just switch on and leave in the background. This is quite a useful feature, as if you watch often enough you'll find the content tends to pretty similar, although this isn't necessarily a bad thing.

The quality of the show usually depends on the presenters and, as a general rule, if Coleen, Jane and Carol are on together it should be a good one (Sherrie is my absolute favourite presenter, but tends not to be on as often).

The guests are often repeated, and when the guests for the week are advertised, the footage shown is usually them appearing on a previous show. I don't know if this is just me, but whenever I switch on its usually Peter Andre...

The guests are usually well chosen, and I can't think of an 'awkward moment' where the guest has been left with nothing to say, probably due to the clever way in which they bring topics inspired by something printed in a magazine or newspaper into the guest's interview.

This means that no matter how many times you've seen this particular guest flogging their new book/tv show/fitness DVD on other daytime shows (and if you watch much TV at this time you WILL have heard most of it before) they always get an original angle which is refreshing. However, if you're hoping for a genuinely interesting current news story, these are few and far between.

I recall some interesting ones on things like gay adoption/ marriage and another on victims of domestic violence being charged with manslaughter rather than murder, but it tends to be things taken out of the more lighthearted news stories of the day.

As I said before, the quality of the show does depend on the presenters, and there are a few panelists who just bug me. I won't name names, but theres one who always has to get her mundane opinion in, plus some kind of reference to sex (subtle enough to go over the heads of any listening children) which causes the audience to laugh and clap like trained seals. This is quite annoying.

But when the chemistry between the presenters is right, the show is genuinly hilarious, with stories of their families and lives in general. It does tend to stick to the same 'Carol's a drunk', 'Ooooh Ray', 'I love my mum' and my all time favourite; '
Did I mention I used to live in LA....?' formula (watch it, and these topics WILL come up), but this does give you a nice feeling of knowing the presenters, although I imagine they keep a lot back.

Also included are occasional little sketches which seem to be produced just for the fun of the presenters without trying too hard to be funny, which is refreshing and usually means that they're funny to watch as well.

In the olden days the main presenter was Kaye Adams (who I think is currently on the longest maternity leave ever!) but I quite like the current format of switching between Andrea McLean and Jackie Brambles.

I wouldn't reccomend you set an alarm every weekday for 12:30 because you'd get bored fairly quickly. But I find that if I'm home at this time, its nice to know that I can usually find it on ITV because in small doses its good entertainment.

Summary: Not worth a speeding ticket to get home in time, but not bad to watch if you're there
