I never watched this when it was first shown on Channel 4 back in 2005. I heard a lot of people saying how good it was, so I ended up borrowing the dvds from a friend and liked it so much I bought them and have watched every episode since. Sky One bought the rights for this show and the current season 5 is being shown at 9pm on sundays.


So what is Lost

Lost is an American television series. It follows the story of survivors from a plane crash from Sydney Australia to LA. There were 71 survivors but we only tend to see about a third of these (if we're lucky). The plane crashes on an island which seems deserted.

Main Characters

Sayid

He was an Iraqi guard and used to torture people. Doesn't sound like a nice guy, but surprisingly he has a gentle caring side. Also knows how to fend for himself

Jack

Jack is a doctor - handy guy to have after a crash. he tends to the survivors problems and is an all round nice guy. He is a good problem solver and a kind man. Has a bit of a thing for Kate.

Sawyer
Ex con man, but alright guy. The others don't trust him much and he gets blamed for a lot of things. He is sarcastic, but funny with it. Also has a thing for Kate

Kate Austen

Kate is a convict, you wouldn't have thought it, sweet, nice Kate. Although she seems like a girly girl, she is happy to much in with the men and has a tough steely streak

Hugo

Hugo is down to earth. He won the lottery and since then loads of bad luck has happened to him. He is happy go luck and funny.

John Locke

We don't learn so much about John. He keeps himself to himself and is a good hunter gatherer. A good craftsman and a good man to have on your side.

Claire

She is pregnant and ends up giving birth on the island. He bonds with baby Aaron well and although is a bit overwhelmed, she is a happy woman.

Charlie

Charlie is a rock star and his group were popular, but they drifted apart a bit. He gets close with Claire and looks after her.

Sun

The wife of Jin. They are both korean and Sun has a secret. She knows a bit english, but Jin doesn't know. Their relationship seems a bit 1 sided and Jin seems to keep control of his wife

Jin

As above pretty much. He seems a bit of a bully in the first season.

Each episode lasts an hour and has 3 ad breaks in it, so about 42 minutes running time. What do I think of the show then?

I really like this show and think the first season was probably the best, as it was a whole new show concept and nothing like any other show out there. I guess you can tell it is a big budget American show, but it isn't flashy or over the top. Since it was unknown actors in here, apart from 1 I know of that makes an appearance in future sereis, then it can be a bit believeable. This show you really have to catch from the start and it is confusing for me although I have watched every episode. A great show that I will be wondering how it ends!
