MASH is a classic comedy and it is not often you can say that about an American series but in the case of MASH it is totally appropriate. I was not old enough to see it or even appreciate it the first time round however visits to America and the endless opportunities to watch MASH re runs on the cable channels over there inroduced me to it and I became a fan. MASH is a satire of war and is based upon an army medical unit in the middle of the Korean war. This is the one that America earned a draw in before they got a bloody nose in Vietnam. It follows the lives of a group of medics including Hawkeye, Radar, Hotlips, Trapper and Frank Burns to name a few. Alan ... Read the complete review

Few things manage to be truly comical and yet truly depressing in one swoop, whilst being completely entertaining. Somehow Mash always manages to carry it off. Set in a Mash (Mobile Army Surgical Hospital) centre in North Korea during the War, this situation comedy (the comedy can be somewhat dark at times) tracks the daily turmoil of the soldiers and doctors who are trying to survive. Developed by Larry Gelbart, this American show was inspired by the 1968 novel M*A*S*H: A ... Read the complete review

Inspired by the 1971 MASH film and the earlier books, as well as by the plot of the 1961 novel catch-22 by Joseph Heller (it is a dark satire taking place in WW II), television producer Larry Gelbhart decided to develop the M*A*S*H concept for television, starring an all new cast barring the return of the film's original Radar O'Reilly, Gary Burghoff. CBS brought it to American screens in may of 1973, where it ruled the airwaves for 11 years. Telling the tale of surgeons Hawkeye, Trapper, Frank Burns and their comrades at the 4077th Mobile Army Surgical Hospital during the Korean War, it was meticulously researched, by interviewing real Army M*A*S*H doctors, nurses, and ... The series M*A*S*H was based around a Mobile Army Surgical Hospital during the Korean conflict in the 1950's. M*A*S*H was created as a spin off to the original movie of the same name which was released in 1970. The series has won countless awards over the years and the devotion of many fans. The M*A*S*H series ran for 251 episodes and by the end the characters almost seemed like members of your own family. A lot of people tell me im far too young to be watching it but thanks to the wonder of Sky One and Paramount Comedy Channel i have seen almost all of the 251 episodes. The main cast members are as ... Read the complete review
