Advantages: Hilarious, Kicking theme tune (for a while anyway), Written by Tony Robinson
Disadvantages: Maid Marian, Guy of Gisbourne
Maid Marian and Merry Men can be summed up in two words: laughter galore. It's just a shame that this is screened while most adults are coming home from work as this is a masterpiece of childrens' television. Written by Tony Robinson (often known for his hilarious role as Baldrick in 'Blackadder'), who also stars as the Sheriff of Nottingham, the show follows Maid Marian (the show's only let-down) and her loyal band of followers including a daft Robin Hood who thinks of himself in the best way possible and a dwarf (Little John), through Sherwood forest, stopping and solving everyday problems in those days gone by. They are constantly followed around by Robinson's sheriff and his two thick guards. Of course their dastardly plans are always foiled by the band of merry men and Marian. The sheriff or 'Nottingham' always finds himself in trouble with King John, who in turn is troubled constantly by his nephew, Guy Of Gisbourne, possibly one of the most stupid, mindless and annoying characters ever to grace our TV screens, but anyway, it makes the kids laugh. The show is a great little thing to watch when you get home from work, when you can sit down with a sandwich and cup of tea. Unfortunately this came onto our screens in about 1993 and is now just re-runs, so don't think you can look forward to a second series. Sorry :o)

- 01/07/01 I wouldn't go as far to say it was dull but I can understand that you may get a bit annoyed by the way it goes over the top on the stupid side sometimes. |

- 01/07/01 Hmmm, good op although I am not sure I agree. Still, you obviously found it funny, I thought it was a little dull myself. Steve |
