Advantages: Real Actors - Real Funny
Disadvantages: Small Fan Base
Malcolm in Middle: What a show! The first time I saw a trailer for this show, I wasn’t impressed. It was compared to the Simpson’s, but with real people. I didn’t think any program could live up to the legacy of the Simpson’s. Oh how I was wrong! When it was on Sky 1, I never bothered to watch it, as there was always something better to watch at the time. Now it is one BBC2 at 6:45 on Mondays & Fridays, after the Simpson’s. I first watched it by accident; I thought the Fresh Prince of Bel Air was on (another great show!) But because it was a Friday (and I am very lazy :) I didn’t stretch for the remote and I watched the show. After half of the program I was in tears of laughter, it really is that funny. The program isn’t very hard to get into; there are only a few characters that you need to know. The episodes don’t follow each other; you don’t need to see them all in order. The acting is good, especially the boy who plays Malcolm – they way he sometimes decides to narrate the show works really well. The storylines are funny to say the least, because the show uses real people (instead of cartoons like the Simpson’s), any slightly odd storyline is funny. (Whereas in the Simpson’s the storylines have to be that much more surreal to be funny). I think because the show uses real actors, we can relate to it that much better – and therefore it is that much funnier.
