It's funny how TV shows which aired many years ago can still stick in the mind. MANIMAL is one such show - it only ran for 8 episodes in the early 1980s, but it is still held fondly in some people's memories. Perhaps this fondness is because it hasn't been repeated endlessly on numerous TV channels in these days of nostalgia TV, unlike shows like KNIGHT RIDER. MANIMAL starred Simon MacCordindale as Jonathan Chase, a university professor who was able to turn himself into a variety of animals - hence the title of the series. Remember that 80s show where the guy could turn into animals to help solve murder cases? Chances are you can't. It was only ever shown once, on BBC1 at around 7pm. I must have been about 8 or 9. It starred someone called Simon MacKordindale who was British I think. He played 'JC' who, by some mysterious American Indian magic, could temporarily turn into the animal of his wishes. Hence, via some pretty nifty 80s special effects, he could become a horse, panther or eagle to catch up with, spy on or apprehend some bad guy. All in the name of crime fighting.
