Marion and GeoffNewest Review: ... to the conversation alert the viewer to details which are not clear to him at the time. The character of Keith has that quintessential Welsh story-telling habit of making non events sound rather interesting and the way that he chatters away to us about Geoff, Marion and the kids leaves us with the idea that we actually know the characters. A bit quirky, Marion and Geoff is like few other ... more |

Marion and Geoff is an intriguing comedy series made up of two series, the first being 10 x 8 minute monologues told by Rob Brydon through a fixed camera who plays the part of Keith, a taxi driver whose ex-wife Marion left him for Geoff. The show revolves around his "little smashers" (children) who don't see him very often and the relationship between his wife and her new husband. The style of the show is quite unique, the world seen through the eyes of a lonely and somewhat sad taxi driver is really quite sad as well as being rather funny albeit in a black way. Combined with Brydon's great facial expressions, dry delivery and Welsh accent this is ... Read the complete review

WHAT IS IT ABOUT: Rob Brydon stars in this one man show comedy series about a taxi-cab driver who delivers monolgues to the camera instilled in his cab. The show ran for two seasons between 2000 and 2003. The monologues tend to be about his troubled relationship and friendships. IS IT ANY GOOD: Undoubtedly this show is powered by two things: 1) Rob Brydon: I've been a huge fan of Brydon for a long time, and his recent mainstream success as Uncle Bryn in Gavin and Stacey has only cemented my feelings for him. The guy is a comic genius - very quick witted and witty, yet disarming in his looks and Welsh accent. In this show, he brilliantly ... Read the complete review

This was a carcking little comedy that featured the comic talents of Rob Brydon who can be seen on another cult comedy Gavin and Stacey which recently cleaned up at the TV awards and he also has his own chat style show which is very funny under the name of Keith Barret. The Barret character also appears here, originally the character was seen in short monologues where he sat behind the wheel of his car talking to the camera detailing his life following his spereation from his wife Marion and his visits to see his son. For this thirty minute comedy Keith is now a chauffer for an merican film director and he is charged with driving the mans son ... Read the complete review

Starting as a series of short monologues of only eight minutes long first shown on BBC2 in 2000, ‘Marion And Geoff,‘ was a show, through no fault of it’s own, which became mild cult viewing. Hushed and unadvertised, the series was meant to be a time filler in the avant-garde BBC2 evening schedule. Eleven of these short scripted pieces were produced giving us a personal, but brief insight into the life of the unknown cabbie, Keith Barratt. He first comes to our screens in the throws of a divorce and it is in this, that he represents a state of mind that just simply isn’t normal. What he is actually experiencing is what many of us would give up breathing over ... Read the complete review

~Introduction~ This is a review of the DVD of the second series of the popular television programme ‘Marion and Geoff’ that was screened on BBC2. It follows Keith Barrett (Rob Brydon) in his new role as a chauffer. Each morning and afternoon, he is charged with taking Fisher to and from school. Fisher is the son of a high profile American film director and they are know as the Tarpaulin family. The self produced documentary style series looks at Keith at work and whilst he is out and about and he talks about his everyday life in a rather care-free and hilarious fashion. ~Rob Brydon~ Rob Brydon was born in Swansea ...
