I used to watch MARRIED WITH CHILDREN when I was at college - it used to be shown late night Thursdays on ITV and it was something that I looked forward to all week. It's now shown on the Paramount Comedy Channel, and is one of the reasons why I am glad I have Sky TV!

It stars Ed O'Neill as Al Bundy and Katey Sagal as his wife Peg. These are not exactly a lovey-dovey married couple, instead they are two people who have been together for what seems like forever, and have become tired of each other in many respects. Much of the humour of the show stems from the way these two treat each other.

Of course, one of the major reasons for watching the show has to be Christina Applegate, who plays their daughter, Kelly. Applegate is, quite frankly, gorgeous, and it is a shame that her film career has not been more successful - her most successful film to date was the pitiful DON'T TELL MOM THE BABYSITTER'S DEAD.

This certainly isn't a show to watch with your grandma or small children as many of the jokes are quite vulgar, but it is certainly one to watch in the company of other adults, as many of them will see aspects of themselves coming through the characters.

In 1996, ITV made an ill-advised attempt to remake the show, starring Russ Abbot (yes, that's right, RUSS ABBOT!!!! Who green-lighted this!!??) as Ted 'Butler' and renamed it MARRIED FOR LIFE. Thankfully, the show was so awful that it only lasted for seven episodes.
