Advantages: Well presented, well edited, good personalities
Disadvantages: Sometimes its too short
Presented by Adrian Chiles who is apparently the most watched man on television, this is an addition to the BBC football schedule that has been running for a few years now with great success.
Due to the introduction of Sky and the Premier League, allied to European football during the week, a lot of football matches are being played on Sundays, meaning that the Saturday night edition of Match of the Day doesn't always show highlights of all the matches, or even the best games over a weekend.
This show which is on Sunday's between 1030-1130 pm has ensured we people without sky can still catch up with all the action by watching the highlights here.
The programme could quite easily be described as Match of the Day's cheekty younger brother, the presenter is not a footballer but a fan so his comments are generally more like those you'd hear at a match, he asks simple informative questions that lead footballers into interesting answers.
The guest summarisers are also more interesting, we have the chance to hear managers or younger players giving their views on matches, people like Lee Dixon are very instructive and its good getting beyond Lawrenson and Hansens views from time to time, although when either of those guys are on the show they always seem to have more fun and have a bit more banter.
There are added segments to the football such as embarrassing moment of the week or a Kevin Day interview at a club, these add something to the slightly more conservative format of Match of the Day and are a good laugh.
Overall I like the show it provides good highlights, the presenter is a good laugh and the guys all seem to enjoy themselves having a good time analysing but having a bit of banter too, its good to hear Martin Keown on the show who is a very interesting summariser too, but also to see variation and not the same old people telling us what happened.
Overall its a well thought out well presented show and I like seeing it as the last thing I do before the worst nights sleep of the week!!
Summary: A nicely edited show with personality
