Match of the Day is a BBC football programme show that covers all Saturday Football Fixtures, and also during Christmas and Easter when their are more fixtures during weekdays.

Gary Linekar hosts the show most of the time, accompanied by his panel of Alan Hansen, Alan Shearer, and Mark Lawrenson. They usually start off by showing the big match of the day, which tends to be one of the games involving the top 4, or a major derby such as that of Sunderland vs Newcastle.

The highlights are brilliant, because they not only pick out the main goal mouth action, they also pick out world class defending and goalkeeping, so they show the all round game action, unlike football first, which is skysports version, that shows the whole dam match! who wants to watch 90 minutes of a football game, when you know the result already?!! Why not just watch 10 minutes of entertaining highlights.

The discussion after each match is very good, all points covered in detail, and represented by clips from the game, outlining the good/bad tactics of teams, man marking, and hilarious moments as well, such as Ricardo Fuller's ridiculous sending off against west ham for slapping his own player! All pundits have great sense of humour. The tune of match of the day never gets old, legendary tune.
