Advantages: good show
Disadvantages: going to end at the end of the season
This has to be the best highlight football programmes around. It’s just so good and my husband I never fail to miss a programme and if we do we use the video to record the programme. Gary Linekar is a great presenter, he really has come along way and seems to be filling Des Lynam’s shoes pretty well. I love his cheesy smile he gives, a brilliant presenter and someone who knows the game and therefore knows what they are talking about. He normally has two football pundits who discuss and analyse the match, they usually are: Alan Hansen: he’s so critical of defences, favours defenders booting the ball out and playing the percentage game. He was a great defender and therefore can criticise, he’s the more defensive of the pundits- a good co-host. Trevor Brooking- you either love or hate him, he can be so boring but nevertheless his comments are often true and honest. A West Ham fan and you can often see that bias doesn’t come on the show that much but does a good job when he does. Mark Lawrence- I think Mark Lawrence is the more controversial of them all because he speaks his minds, his criticism of Rio Ferdiand was true, he still needs to learn and often gives the ball away cheaply. Got some stick from the West Ham manager, but he’s good. I will be sad to see Match of the Day go from BBC 1, it would be good if they could take the BBC 1 pundits with them, but I can’t see that happening.
