Advantages: Alan Hansens defensive genius

Disadvantages: Lawrie (Mark Lawrenson) what an idiot

Match of the Day, one of the highlights of my week. It gives the most in depth coverage of any sport i know. It was the duel in the crown of BBC1. Why can't they keep it. Fair enough we can't expect a terrestrial TV channel to have live football being played every Saturday afternoon but MOTD must be one of the most watched programs on television not just BBC1. Everything is moving away from BBC1, Des Lynam, MOTD, what ever next? Eastenders?
Gary Lineker is an awesome television sports host. He brings his co-hosts into the show supremely well and his knowledge of football is seond to none. His co-hosts vary some weeks but Alan Hansen and Trevor Brooking are extremely good at analysing the matches and Alan is a defensive destroyer, he's never happy. Lucky he wasn't on last night when Noel Whelan scored that screaming o.g. or when the ball rebounded off Claus Jenson from the half way line and went in. The BBC claim that they are going to enhance their radio coverage (5live) which is an excellent channel but listening to football is one thing and watching it is quite another!
Long live match of the day and i hope it does well on ITV but it will always be a BBC broadcast and i'm sure the fans will long for the day it returns to BBC1 and away from the tyranny and boredom of David Pleat and Ron Atkinson commentating!
