Advantages: Terrestrial coverage of football, Great analysis, Historical greatness

Disadvantages: Bad Timing, Not on the BBC anymore

Match Of The Day - as old as the hills, but much, much better. For those of us who don't have satellite, cable or digital TV, it's about the only reason to leave the pub on saturday.

Not content with stealing the mighty Des Lynam from the BBC, ITV are after the whole show now. It'll be a shame to see Match Of The Day go off air, but at least we still get something on terrestrial TV.

Over thirty years of sporting history has been seen on Match Of The Day, and, in my case at least, it forms part of male background and development in modern life. My earliest memories of watching football were from Match Of The Day.

In addition to that, Match Of The Day is truely a family occasion. Due to my lifestyle, I rarely get much time to sit and chat with my dad or grandad. Courtesy of the BBC, and Match Of The Day in particular, every saturday night ends with the three of us sat round the television spending some quality time together. Life just doesn't get much better.

The fact it's not going to be on BBC One almost brings a tear to the eye - Goodbye, Old Friend...
