Melanie was raised by her grandama and her mum, who she still lives with. She's a banker, but that doesn't prevent her personality from being feisty and flirtatious. She's certainly not afraid to speak her mind.

Melanie Hill may have interested several male viewers and certainly got the attentions of Tom and other men in the house, but she also really annoyed many women watching at home. Here was an intelligent woman, who was able to converse on virtually every subject in a very eloquent way. So why did she feel the need to use her sexuality all the time to enhance her popularity ? When she began her flirtations with Andrew, I thought it was a genuine romance and that it was very sweet. But when he left and she moved swiftly on to Tom, it showed how meaningless it all was to her and that did her no favours with the women watching. Since leaving the programme, she has appeared on TV criticising her portrayal as a man-eating Mel B lookalike, but let's face it, the camera was only showing what she said and did, it wasn't making it up ! *UPDATE* Following the Channel 4 Big Brother update programme on Dec. 23rd, I thought you might like to know the latest on Melanie. She is still vehemently denying the "sex vixen" (as she calls it) image, feeling angry at her portrayal on the programme. However, she will soon be on TV presenting Chained, which she describes as "a really extreme dating show", where contestants are chained to several members of the opposite sex, choosing one to be unchained at a time ! Erm, nice career move for a woman trying to shed the "sex vixen"image, huh ??

Melanie started Big Brother as a favourite but to the end she was hated by many and regarded as a scheming flirt who got jealous of Claire and wanted all the attention from the males. When Mel left Big Brother she was cheered by the crowd buy also booed. Mel has had a very hostile reaction from the crowd. In a recent episode of Panorama Mel and “Nasty Nick” have spoken out about the way they were portrayed on the show, she says she was stereotyped as a "sexy little babe" before she even entered the house. Mel has said she’s very unhappy on how she was shown on TV and how the programme was edited. Fellow Big Brother contestant, "nasty" Nick Bateman has said” I think one of the problems with the whole show was the public thought it was real," he said "They lost sight that it was a game show." One thing has to be pointed out is that what we saw on the show was real, it was Mel constantly flirting and it was Nick who broke the rules. It was a bit strange that the Big Brother team had a script for Mel when she made her introductory video; she had a script saying, "I'm Mel, and I'm a sexy little babe". Mel though phoned Producers and declined to say this. What we saw on the show was the real person though, and in my opinion nobody can blame the producers for stereotyping the contestants during the programmes 62 day run.

Mel certainly got the public's tongues wagging. Love her or hate her, people wanted to talk about her. Personally I like her. Yes she was flirty but that makes for interesting TV. One of the reasons a lot of people were watching Big Bro was to see some of the housemates jumping into bed with each other. But then they went and critised her for it. You just can't win with some people. Mel was a very good member of the household when it came to doing tasks, entertaining each other and the viewers. She was very strong but not too strong willed that it caused problems within the house. Mel's been fairly quiet since the end of Big Bro but I did see her last week on the Priory with Jaime Theakston and Zoe Ball. They did a very funny quiz with Mel and Zoe about Norman Cook who Mel lived with for a bit while at college.

I really like Melanie, she was my favourite. And I was really disappointed that everyone turned on her. OK, she was a bit of a flirt but she was interesting. All was going well for her until Clair came in and took over. I, think everyone by the end really like Claire, and when she said she didn't like Melanie, the viewers turned on her and voted Mel out. Which was a bit of a shame. She had become great friends with Anne, and had romantic flings, with Tom, Andy emmmm Darren and flirted with Craig. That was all the members except the women....... She says she likes Tom, but from what I have gathered he like Claire, so that makes things interesting. I, found it really funny when Mel got the boot, because she pretended to be happy, when really she was gutted. Apart from her good lucks, she didn't offer the group much, except she was a chatter box and kept conversations interesting.

There's nothing worse than someone who thinks they are popular and good looking, but actually aren't. Mel tries it on with all of the blokes, and when they are sucked in she drops them quickly. She even tried it on with Anna after all of the men dried up! She's quite vicious with her tongue and she has manipulated and played with the feelings of most of the household. I don't like her one bit and I am glad she had the highest amount of votes against her. The usual magazine spreads will no doubt come flooding in for her, but if she wasn't on this show she'd still be a nobody.

I was not a Melanie fan and probably never will be. At first, I thought, yeah, OK, she's a flirt, bla bla, usual girl stuff etc. but then after all the andy stuff and she hooked up with Thomas, I thought 'this is a bit dodgy' as she was saying stuff to him, then saying other stuff to other people. Also, she was too cheeky for my liking. I mean, it's OK to flash your bum at the cameras once in a while if you're feeling flaunty, but come on, was she over the top or what? And another thing, I found her incredibly bitchy towards other members of the house, especially once there were only four of them in there and anna became her bestest buddy. The only other thing I have to say on the matter is that she may have done well on the human models task, but really she did not put in any effort on that circus skills one. However, for all her faults, I think she was an interesting character to have in there, and well done to big brother for finding her.

Despite what others think I have to say I thought Mel was one of the best people in the house. She had a wicked sense of humour, was thoroughly entertaining (did you notice how crap it was after she got kicked out) and seemed to enjoy herself which would be a sensible thing to try and do when stuck in a house for 10 weeks! OK so she flirted with all the guys..........so? It was all harmless fun and I don't think she should be judged on that, flirting was a way of passing the time and enjoying the best of what you've got (in her case 5 hopefuls!) She may have been slightly pissed off when Claire joined but after being centre of attention for so long who wouldn't be. I think she was, and will be great and wish her all the best in whatever she does. And has anyone noticed how SHE hasn't been splashed all across the papers for gatecrashing celeb parties and making an exhibition of herself like certain other ex-house girlies???

Really felt that there was going to be nothing on this programme to remotely interest me- but like most of the watchers it has sneaked in and grabbed my attention. I still could not watch every episode and missed most of the first few weeks- just watching from the Nasty Nick episode. However I have to say that I am pleased that it has turned out to be not as tacky as it first sounded like it was going to be. I have to admire the people taking part. I think they have been very brave exposing their lives like this. Not to mention other exposes- but I think that the majority of them should be able to come out of the house and not feel ashamed for anything done or said. Unless that is in the episodes I did not see. Most of them have come across as fine people. people most of us could relate to. I have only voted once and that was last night for Craig. I have been torn between him and Anna. I'm not 100% sure about Anna but I believe with Craig that what you see is what you get. There is a notice in our gym that he will give all his prize money to someone who is ill. He and this girl called Jo are both members of our chain of Gym. I think that deserves a vote. Don't you? Being so much in the public eye he can hardly go back on his promise- and he comes across as the person least likely too. I also like Nicola. I thought she was a female version of Craig. I was really surprised she got voted out. She was so creative. The programme took a dive after she left

Mel has been portrayed as a flirt, a tease and somewhat up herself. I have a feeling that if anyone is going make it after Big Brother Mel will. Her post-eviction chat with our Davina last night showed her as a cool, intelligent girl that handled all the intrusive questions without side stepping anything, like some of the others (Claire?) Mel has the looks and the body, and she talks sense. Yes she flirted with the guys, but she bonded with Anna towards end. She was as genuine as anyone could be in such a gameshow, showing her true feelings most of the time. The other housemates will have their 5 minutes of fame, I think Mel will take it slowly and stay in the public eye. I didn't actually like what saw of Mel on the show, but thats clever editing for you, making her out as queen bitch was their aim, I think there is more to her. Just as long as she doesn't make a record..please!

Finally Mel was up for eviction and waited with baited breath to find out if she was leaving or staying. I have to admit to not liking Mel very much, but that is because of her actions last week when she overheard Darren's nominations and got upset when she heard her name. I personally think she manipulated Darren into changing his vote and ensuring her place for the final 2 weeks. Unfortunately that has backfired on her this week as she has been evicted from the house. My opinion of her did however mellow a bit when she was interviewed in the studio by Davina McColl and she did come over as quite human. She clearly missed her mum while she was in the house and was so glad to see her when she left. She was very close to tears. I wish her all the best in her new career in the world of television as clearly she will be offered numerous things. (I think anyway) Sorry you won't win Mel but I am sure all the lucrative offers you will now receive will make up for it.

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

I continue my review of those evicted from the BB house with comments on Mel's eviction. With almost 70% of the phone vote, a perhaps surprisingly high percentage, but one that the bookies were predicting, Mel looked devastated to be leaving the house. Always one to show her feelings, the tears had started forming in her eyes almost before Davina had finished announcing her name. Mel is one of the characters in the house who seem to divide people into like/dislike groupings, whilst others, such as the non-descript Darren, fell into the "ah, er, which one is that again" category. Even Marjorie is ignoring him now. Always one to give her opinion, Mel has only recently formed a relationship with Anna, who did look quite upset that she would be the only female left for the last week. Priort to that, she was never really close to any other female in the house. If nothing else, Mel gave the girls in the outside world someone to bitch about it (and, deny if it you wish, but the fairer sex must admit that they do like a bitch now-and-again), and something for the blokes to look at. Her flirtatious nature, prevelant in her dealings with Andy and Thomas were regarded by some as an attempt to manipulate the male contestants, and, perhaps, the male viewers. Certainly, her oft-used tactic of buttock-showing did seem to be directed towards the camera and may have alienated the female viewers, leading to more votes for her eviction from that part of the population. The one moment that seemed to make her eviction inevitable was her crying antics after the "overhearing incident" with Darren in the diary room. I personally feel the tears were not pre-meditated but were the showing of true feelings at her hurt and disappointment. However, I cannot condone them; she knew that everyone had to vote for someone and only the most naive would believe their name would not be mentioned in the secret words between th
e contestants and Big Brother. Mel stated that she was one of the most genuine people in the house and there is little to make think otherwise. However, we do not really know how much she was "playing the game". Unfortunately, with Mels departure, the house will be boring for the last week. However, I'm off on holiday, so I don't care :) I still believe that the bookies will be right (aren't they always) and that Craig will be walking off with the dosh next week. I hope he puts spends some money on speech therapy. In particular, he should be told there is no "sh" in Sada...

Most of my friends think I am quite sad at the moment, planning my life around a TV game-show, but do I care?? Not a jot! My happiness is now almost complete, the manipulating tart this week came up for eviction, and her true colours are beginning to show. Her pouting "I have given more of myself than anyone" in the diary room this week have shown the sexual teasing of Tom and Andy were just her ploy to get her hands on the cash prize. Men probably love her, all the girls I know hate her. And yes! The public have shown with the largest vote in Big Brother history, that she is the one to go! Did you see her face when Davina said her name? Holding back the tears was poor little Mel, whilst I was punching the air shouting "YES!!!!" Well done to all who voiced their own opinions. I cannot wait till she comes out at 11 tonight. This show has given us all the chance to do something which at one time or another we have wanted to do. Be a true fly on the wall. I love it! We want more!!! Although, I don't think another would be as good. Well, maybe if I was in it<g>!!

I believe that the current anti Mel feelings that have swept the country are unjustified. She has been portrayed by C4 as a selfish, moody, self centered flirt. Ok, she may have exhibited some of those behaviours, but I feel these are just normal reactions to abnormal situation. There are few people who can imagine what the big brother contestants have been through. There are no other situations where you are imprisoned, and your every word, every move watched and discussed by millions In this situation you are bound to want some time to yourself. I would be impossible to be cheerful all the time. And if someone was annoying you, then you would be bound to show it. In the situation Mels behaviour is normal, its Anna, Darren and Craig who have lose touch with their normal emotions. Mel was obviously popular in the house, and regarded as good housemate. She didn't deserve to become the object of public hatred.

              Advantages

              Disadvantages

Early on, Mel was the favourite of all the Big Brother house mates to win the £70 000 prize money. She’s been one of the least offensive people in the house and quite flirty with the men. Now she’s not as popular as she was, though only because the audience have taken more to Craig and Anna. Its her first time being nominated this week, along with Craig and Darren. They’ve been nominated previously, especially Craig - he’s been nominated three times already and survived. His popularity outside suggests he’ll still be there next week. Darren will most likely be the final evictee; the last time he was nominated, he was only 1% behind Thomas (who was evicted.) It’s a shame as he brings a lot of fun to the house. But as Mel hasn’t been nominated before, you can’t be sure how the audience will take to her in the phone vote. She's an unknown factor, so who knows what could happen? If Mel goes, how will Anna react? Not well I suspect, as she’s formed a close bond with Mel that she doesn’t have with the two men. We’ll have to wait and see.
