Advantages: Loaded with laughs
Disadvantages: Tony and Debra getting together in the last series!
They don't make them like this anymore!
What a great sitcom Men Behaving Badly was, it's one of the few comedy series I can watch over and over again and still find it funny, thanks mostly to the brilliantly cast Gary Strang (Martin Clunes), who struggles through his mid 30's trying to cling onto his youth by drinking, eating kebabs and living with his equally troubled mate, Tony.
The on screen chemistry between all the characters is great, and you can tell that on and off screen, the cast must have a 'right good laugh' making this program.
It's great to watch this series back now, to see how life was in the 90's - the fashion has changed, attitudes to drinking have changed vastly and even the pubs have changed from the ones depicted in this programme.
Men Behaving Badly was solely responsible for me moving out of my Mum's house when I was 17, as I longed to live the MBB lifestyle - having fun, living with a mate and drinking. Not the kind of lifestyle that would be encouraged in this day and age, but if the results were to be any where near as much fun as this programme was, then it'd be worth it.
For me the series went down hill once Tony and Debra got together, as it lost it's magic, and just became a comedy about 2 couples and the jokes suffered as a result. But prior to that, MBB is TV comedy gold and well worth a re-visit for a trip down memory lane.
Summary: Gold.
