Advantages: lots of swords and scorcery

A great and mystical show which is perfect for saturday night viewing. The show follows a young merlin as he learns to use his powers for good under the guidence of his mentor gias. Also he has a desteny which is revealed by a fantastic looking dragon who guides him on what to do. The series starts of with merlin having an uneasy relationship with merlin but ends with them having a deep but unspoken respect for eachother. the series had 13 hour long episode which have a diffrent story with some arcs throughout its run. It has some great effect for a tv show and brings a welcome relief whilst doctor who is off our screens. The show has some dark episodes and gives hints at what destiny lies for the future king arther and merlin. death is an element in the show and is always subtly hanled. The only critisism of the show is merlin can never reveal his powers, i think t would bring a great dynamic between arther if he were to find out as magic is banned from king uther. Anthony head plays uther well. In the begining of the series he seems a one dimensional villian but as it progresses we see the king regret some of his actions in some remarkable scenes which show of his talent and is a reminder as to why he should be on our screens more. it would be good to have some cliff hangers but the story arc and revalations throughout the series always want you to know more. The last episode of the series is the best and you really get a glimpse of how powefull merlin can become. A great series worth the watch
