Midsomer MurdersNewest Review: ... I actually thought that Midsomer Murders had come to an end a couple of years ago on a round season 5, after a long period away from the television though - I recently re-discovered it and found that the storylines were still as intriguing as ever and that the program was still going strong. The program is set in the Buckinghamshire area but seemingly pretends to be around Somerset as far as I can tell. The quaintly named episodes are filmed in picture-postcard English villages filled with houses with thatched roofs and spacious gardens. The quiet and harmless looking villages always have plenty of secrets to hide whether it's sordid ... more |

Midsomer Murders is a crime detective series starring John Nettles in the main role as Detective Chief Inspector Tom Barnaby, the leather skinned stretched-hamster lookalike is warm but firm in an Inspector Morse type of way. His Detective Sergeant's are usually nice but dim type characters, the most recent "Ben Jones" is a little bit sharper. Ok - let's get the misconceptions out of the way first. Midsomer is NOT a village - it's a COUNTY! Therefore the murder rate is more, erm, believable! Midsomer Murders is fantastic. A show with murders that can be shown at any time of day (or night!), suitable for the whole family is rare, but Midsomer does it! John Nettles plays Detective Chief Inspector Barnaby who's current sidekick is DC Jones. Together they crack the odd, obscure, bizarre and downright outrageous cases of lust, envy, greed, betrayal and ultimately murder that lie within the sleepy middle class county of Midsomer. Set in idyllic locations with well to do ... Read the complete review

I am 19, and last year when summer came around, and I was off college for nearly 3 months, I found I was very bored, I lived right out in the countryside so not much socialization there, and I didn't work, so I tended to be in most of the day preparing work for the next college year and watching daytime TV...and this was one of the shows on ITV during the day!!! The show is about a little village called Midsomer. The show is normally on at night in two hour programmes, or on ITV at around 3pm in two parts. The show is about murders which occur in the village. DCI Barnaby and his sidekick Troy are there to try and solve the crimes. Barnaby is ... Read the complete review

Midsomer murders is one of those Sunday night type programmes that are a treat to watch. Set in the county of Midsomer, the programmes usually open with the demise of some unfortunate inhabitant of an idyllic village. Methods of dispatch vary widely, there are some very creative people in these parts, death by cricket bat, billhook, celtic spear...... The solving falls to DCI Barnaby and his sidekick. It's long been a joke that wherever Jessica Fletcher went in 'Murder she Wrote' people should beware, that applies with these two too! Scratch the idyllic surface of these pretty villages and you'll find a seething pot of frustration, ... Read the complete review
