Advantages: Great list of regular comedians and guests, entertaing comedy games
Disadvantages: None
Mock The Week is a long running English comedy show, which has now produced 6 tv series, and will soon be in its 7th. It features 5 regular comedians, the presenter Dara O'Brien, Frankie Boyle, Hugh Dennis, Andy Parsons and Russell Howard. It is very popular across the country, as a Saturday Night program, and is very popular for many people, probably up to the ages of about 50, due to some of the jokes being on the more offensive side.
Mock The Week, is in my opinion, now the best comedy show in the UK. It features some fantastic regular comedians on the show, and the guests tend to be very famous comedians as well. Frankie Boyle in particular is outstanding, his comedy antics never stop to make me laugh, along with the rest of the nation. His jokes are generally very offensive, but are too funny for anyone to really care, and he always has new content for every week.
Mock The Week features a variety of different games for comedy value. In the first game, a picture is displayed on the screen and the contestants must say what is going on. In the second, a phrase from the weekly tabloids is shown, and contestants have to say what it is about, although they never do at first, always opting for a few jokes first. An occasional game is one where one of the contestants must address the audience as a speaker, say George Bush, and then Hugh Dennis must say after each line what they are really thinking, I have found this to be very funny and it is a highlight of the show. There is also a stand up part to the show, where Frankie Boyle and Russell Howard seem to specialise, contestants are given random content to talk about. And finally, a catchphrase game where contestants must say something about them, for example 'things you would not hear on points of view', the answer being 'I KNOW WHERE YOU LIVE!' absolutely hilarious, a very funny scene at the end of every show.
All in all, Mock The Week is a great addition to Saturday night comedy, the comedians are all up to date with relevant comedy on the world around us, and never stop producing fantastic and very watch able content, I would certainly recommend that when it starts again, you tune in to see some of the witty banter from the comedians at Mock The Week.
