Advantages: Guaranteed laugh
Disadvantages: Too short
Mock The Week is one of my favourite current comedy shows that is usually shown on BBC2, Dave and BBC iPlayer. Angst Productions made the show and was origionally created by Dan Patterson and Mark Leveson. It is a topical programme based on current affairs happening local and around the world. Each show has a panel of comedians, 6 comedians, 2 teams and 3 comedians on each team. There is also a host who keeps a tab on scores depending on how funny/ not funny a joke/ line is.
Alot of the shows are hosted by Dara O'Brien, who seems to do the job pretty well I'd say anyway. People who appear as the panel of comedians include: Frankie Boyle, Michael McIntyre, David Mitchell, Russell Howard, John Oliver, Andy Parsons, Stewart Francis, Hugh Dennis, Mark Watson, Lucy Porter, Rhod Gilbert, Ed Byrne, Gina Yashere, Greg Proops and Fred MacAulay.
My favourite panel members have got to be: Frankie Boyle, David Mitchell, Michael McIntyre, Andy Parsons, Russell Howard and of course Hugh Dennis. At the beginning of the show the host presents the panel with an answer and the comedians make jokes/ lines on what the question could be.
One of the famous and more funny ones of the show: Scenes We'd Like To See. In this part of the show the comedians stand on the 'stage' and the host spins the wheel and a topic will come up. If a comedian has a joke or line they wish to express they must go to the microphone and say their piece. The comedians must be fast in getting to the mic, as it seems that there are alot of funny lines waiting to be told.
Some of the lines in Mock The Week are 'Laugh Out Loud' funny and definitely worth the watch! One of the down sides of this show is that in my eyes, it is too short and should be abit longer. The comedians are the show are usually of really good quality and watching this really does make me smile!
Have a go and Mock The Week!
