Advantages: Compelling viewing
Disadvantages: None
The Mole is now into it's 4th week, and the 3rd programme has just been shown on Channel 5. It has a timeslot of 8pm every Friday. The programme began with a group of people who are put through a series of tasks in order to win prize money for the team kitty, and because of the stress in these situations, we have seen people become friends very quickly, but they all know that one of the group is a mole, and they are out to sabotage the group, but they have to do this is subtle ways to avoid detection. The tasks include parachute jump, bungee jumping, kidnap, and rally driving. The saying "keep your friends close and your enemies even closer" fits the bill perfectly. There is the potential to win up to £200,000. Each week a contestant is eliminated. The way this is done is that they all have to answer questions about the identity of the mole, and whoever is the furthest away from being correct leaves straight away. The show is hosted by Glen Hugill, who was in Coronation Street as DC Alan McKenna who dumped Fiona at the altar. This is maybe where the show falls down a little, as he tries his best to be menacing but never quite pulls it off. You find yourself saying "oh it must be him, he could easily have done that", then someone else makes a mistake which looks suspiciously deliberate and you change your mind again. Paranoia must be setting in for the contestants, and soon they will even doubt themselves.
