Monk (TV Series)Newest Review: ... slapstick antics, and the way in which his OCD drives the majority of his actions - our eponymous hero has a range of unusual routines and habits - for example, not being able to touch anything without using his trusty hand-wipes afterwards, and not being able to walk past parking meters without giving them a quick tap. I do like a good detective series, and as a bit of mindless afternoon viewing, 'Monk' fits the bill nicely. Now in its eighth season, the story focusses on Adrian Monk (Tony Shalhoub), an obsessive-compulsive ex-detective who consistently finds himself consulting with the police on a range of mysterious and extravagant cases. Although Monk focusses on murder, the show takes a comedic approach, and it's this blend of crime and humour that makes it an entirely watchable spectacle. The comedy stems from Monk's occasionally slapstick antics, and the way in which his OCD drives the majority of his actions - our eponymous hero has a range of unusual ... Read the complete review

Monk is a crime solving drama with a difference, mainly with the character at the centre of the programme, Adrian Monk. The programme follows the exploits of Adrian Monk, a former detective at the San Francisco Police Department, who it would seem is on permanent leave from the department. The reason for his leave from the police force is due to the death of his wife in a bomb explosion that has left him emotion devastated, as it was his belief that the bomb was intended for him by someone that he helped put away. What this has meant is Monk became a reclusive character within his own home and has developed sever OCD. This was before he meets his ... Read the complete review

This television series got me through my third year dissertation. I adore Monk. My friends are sick of my obsession but I've converted a few of them, as I always (sometimes drunkenly) protests "a detective with OCD whats not to love?!" A crime based series that revolves around central character Adrian Monk as he tries to go about his day to day business with his crippling OCD and phobia list (it includes milk). His assistant Natalie (I'm assuming it's still her as we haven't had series 7 here yet) his two friends Leylan (chief of police) and Randy (on over eager, sweetly stupid detective.) Monk didn't always used to be such a mess, when he ... Read the complete review

This is a detective series with a difference. Adrian Monk has a long list of problems with him. He is scared of pretty much everything he has a psychological disorder, or many should i say but in his own words 'it's a gift and a curse'. He's an ex cop and now works as a private consultant solving homicides. He is incredibly good at solving the crimes because he notices all the little details that no one else does. His mid works in weird and wondrous ways and through is obsessive nature he pieces all the bits of evidence and solves the crime. I really like watching these because it's thrilling, clever, and funny. Without Adrian the show would just be another crime series ... Read the complete review

Monk is a detective series broadcast in the U.K. by the BBC and on the Hallmark Channel . First broadcast in the States in 2002 this series , set in San Francisco , follows the life of Adrian Monk , former police detective and OCD sufferer , in the aftermath of his wife`s death in a car bomb . Something of a queer fish before the awful loss , Monk descends into a complex world of fears and phobias as his damaged soul tries to impose order and control onto a world that he knows to be mad . There would be something cruel about the laughter some of his hang-ups cause ( and there are , literally , hundreds of them ) were it not for the fact that the audience ( and ...
