Derek Acorah, a Liverpudlian spiritual medium, leads a team of 'ghost hunters' in 'Most Haunted. ' Derek has another companion with him at all times although the rest of the team are not aware of him. His name is Sam and Derek calls him his spirit guide. Sam is his link with the 'other world'.

Working with Sam, Derek is able to discover the causes of hauntings and ghostly presences. Derek Acorah is well known in this field and he is the author of several books. He has managed to gain some credibility among believers but I thought that 'Most Haunted' was too dramatic. His reaction at times to what he claimed to 'sense' was just like very bad ham acting.

I have seen Derek Acorah performing at a live show and he was quite convincing, but this TV program made me doubt his sincerity. He was also constantly 'haunted' by something spooky and his facial expressions and reactions were often just a bit too overacted to be believed.

In my opinion, it's a great pity that such a gifted man has stooped to this level of blatant commercialism, when he is an extremely good medium and clairvoyant even without the show bizz image.

In 2001 the pilot show for 'Most Haunted' was televised and the program is still airing UKLiving TV today. He made his last appearance on 'Most Haunted' in October 2005 and now has his own show: 'Derek Acorah's Ghost Towns.'

Even though I thought Derek Acorah was engaging in a bit of ham acting at times to get the audience going, I was still unsettled by these programs. I maintain that I am not convinced by his claims of contacting the 'other side' and sensing sometimes evil forces, but it does worry me slightly.

So, perhaps I should reserve my opinion on this one. It's dramatic and scary but I can't quite make my mind up whether I do believe it all.

Summary: Interesting show but overacted in parts.
