Murder She Wrote is an American murder mystery show that ran from 1984 to 1996 making it the longest running mystery series on television. Even though this is now an old show and quite a PG series I absolutely love it. I think it brings back memories of old times and a lot of nostalgia. Some of the clothes and outfits are so 80's but really great fun to watch and reminise. It stars Angela Lansbury as Jessica Fletcher the crime writer and amateur sleuth. WHAT IS IT: Murder She Wrote is an American murder mystery show starring Angela Lansbury. Lansbury plays crime novellist Jessica Fletcher, a resident of Cabot Cove (one of those villages that has a far higher than normal murder rate, sort of like one of the Midsomer villages) who has an incredible ability to solve mysterious murders and seems to know practically everybody - she is always being invited to a murder scene by an old friend or relative, perhaps they are trying to tell her something. Murder she wrote is a murder drama which ran from 1984 to 1996 and had a couple of made-for-tv movies. It starred Angela Lansbury (Bed knobs and Broomsticks, etc) as Jessica B Fletcher. Jessica Fletcher was like a modern Miss Marple. She was a famous author who wrote murder fiction. When it began its run in 1984, nobody imagined that Murder, She Wrote (or Murder, To Watch as I recently heard it referred to) would run for an amazing 12 years, nor that it would boast a couple of fairly watch-able television movies. Back in the 80's, it was considered low-grade entertainment, although in this day and age of reality television and game shows it would probably be considered modern art. It was direct competition in the schedules with another long running series (the excellent Friends) that would finally see Jessica Fletcher's pen put down for good.
