Advantages: great show

Disadvantages: same format

Longest running murder mystery series ran from 1984-1996 on American TV Network CBS.

The series was based on day to day life of retired school teacher and now a writer of murder mystery books Jessica Fletcher. She lives in small coastal town Cabot Cove located in Maine.

Jessica is plagued by murders. She visits friends or goes somewhere for business or holidays and a body turns up. Since she is a writer of fiction in same field she gets herself invovled in the investigations.

Jessica is always right and police who don't want her near the cases have to listen to her because she is always right and finds the correct killer. The killer is always a surprise as police have obvious suspect who everyone thinks did it.

The show always has the same format. Jessica meets someone or is intending to meet someone when someone around her gets killed.

The show was very popular maybe due to the format or that people had nothing else to watch. 12 series and several feature films have come out of the success.

I have seen the show repeat on BBC or BBC2 and on UK gold.

I liked Jessica's character. Have seen many of the episodes. I think it is a brilliant show or was.

Summary: she is a clever woman
