My family From the very first series my Family established itself as a truly unique comedy. It featured the lives of the members of the infamous Harper family. These include Susan (played by Zoe Wanamaker) Ben (Robert Lindsay) Nick (Kris Marshall) Janey (Daniella Denby-Ashe) Michael (Gabriel Thomson) Abbey (Siobhan Hayes) and in the later series baby Kenzo, Janey's son (Taylor Marshall) The plots. Not your normal family (302 words)

My family is a british sitcom that started in 2000 and is still running now as far as I know. It stars Robert Lindsay as Ben Harper in the lead role as the head of this slight insane family and is set in Chiswick in London. Although it's not the greatest comedy in the world it's not a bad laugh every now and again when I've watched it. I mainly watch repeats and re-runs of this show now on TV. The comedy is simple as so many are to attract viewers in and revolves around a typical family that contains the grumpy dad, nagging wife and troublesome kids. As stated Robert Lindsay stars as Ben Harper, his wife Susan is played by Zoe Wanamaker and Kris Marshall, ...  Read the complete review

My Family: Makes my family look normal (753 words)

My Family is yet another sitcom based around... you guessed it a family situation. It started in 2000 and although there have been some characters leave from the original cast, they have also added new characters. It is broadcast on BBC1 and there are two new series being commissioned. So the family consists of Dad Ben Harper (Robert Lindsay) who is a dentist and one of the characters I find the funniest. I love his sarcasm and quick wit and the way he is constantly trying to get a moments peace from the rest of the family but on the other hand they always get their way around him. He has no compassion for anyone else really and can be quite selfish but will ...  Read the complete review

My kind of comedy (334 words)

My Family is a long running BBC comedy which I have been a fan of for a long time. It is about a very dysfunctional family, the Harper's who through their peculiar traits get themselves into all manner of peculiar scrapes and situations. Ben plays the struggling father who is inwardly bitter about the fact that he only became a dentist. He does anything for a quiet peaceful life but unfortunately for him things never quite work out that way. Susan is Ben's wife, she has steel and is extremely determined, having past the boundaries of almost being a control freak long ago. She is though fiercely protective of her children and makes sure Ben is always ...  Read the complete review

My Family is nothing like my family. Probably not yours eith ... (465 words)

I remember reading somewhere that this represents your typical British family and that we should all get the humour and see ourselves in it somewhere. Wrong, wrong, wrong. My dad is not a dentist for a start. Neither am I for that matter. I am most certainly not in that wage earning bracket, in fact I am a long way off it. Now whether or not I would represent a member of the typical British family, I wouldn't like to say, but I think a family with a dentist as the head doesn't. It may be more typical of a family within a certain suburb of London - no doubt the suburb where comedy writers live, wherever that may be. Now back to the ...  Read the complete review
