So after his huge success as Father Dougal the question had to be how does Ardal O'Hanlon follow that. Alternatively how far will he fall and how fast. The answer first came when O'Hanlon presented the Stand Up Sho In this he seemed lost and unsure of himself. His introductions were nervy and rushed and he almost seemed self consciously bad. Then, worse, indeed far worse, came My Hero. For as much as the character of Father Dougal was hilariously, blindingly funny then his character of George aka Thermoman was direly unfunny. The comic possibilities of being an alien or superhero has been done before. We have had My Favourite Martian, 3rd Rock From The Sun and Mork ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Thermoman to the rescue! (1514 words)

It was just after Eastenders had finished, I was sitting in front of my TV in the lounge eating my tea and wondering what would be on the box next. Then the announcer said that coming up shortly there would be a new series of 'My Hero'. I'd never heard or seen about it before but when the show came on the music sounded more like a game show to me. The first scene of the show I was watching started out in the living room and a joke was cracked about how 'Thermoman could fly way into the clouds but yet he didn't know what the meaning of God was'. It was then that I realised it was a comedy show. I noticed straight away that one of the ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review My Hero: Dougal - The Next Generation (181 words)

This is one of the shows that's got everyone divided. Either you like it or you don't. This depends mainly on if you see George Sunday (Thermoman) as Dougal in a cape. I'm a huge fan of Father Ted but I don't think this new character is Dougal. He's thick but there's more to him. Plus he can fly. After a bad spell of BBC sitcoms, this one is a welcome show. It's funny, well acted and has a great cast. Especially Hugh Dennis (Punt + Dennis) as Dr Crispin, the worlds most conceted TV doctor. The new series also throws in the inconvinience and challenge of a half human/half alien super hero baby. Fans of Mork ...  Read the complete review
