Advantages: Seems like a great party

Disadvantages: Spoilt child ruins the aura of the show in my opinion. Makes the whole thing easy to dislike

My Super Sweet 16 is one of MTV's reality shows that they often show in the late afternoon when teenagers get home from school and college. It goes in tandem with other reality shows involving young people they produce such as Made, Date My Mom and Room Raiders. My Super Sweet 16 was launched in 2005 and sixty one episodes have aired since this time. The series is based and filmed in the United States of America and MTV in the UK shows these episodes, but recently a UK version has also been launched and aired on MTV.

It is a show about rich kid sixteenth birthday parties. The show runs for twenty two minutes and follows the same format for every show. The show starts off with a bit of background and the spoilt fifteen year telling their friends they are planning a party. You then see these disgraceful shots of the teenager acting like a spoilt brat and treating their parents in a disgusting manner in public, when they have given them a very good life style. The teenager will go around looking for their main present which is usually a car and then try and sweet talk their parents into giving them it for the birthday. They will then hand out invites in some public form often rounding everyone up and then only handing invites to certain people. The teenagers will then talk to an events manager about a venue and will either love it or loathe it in their spoilt brat manner.

On the day of the actual party it is nearly always a rush. The birthday prince or princess will spend the morning and afternoon making sure they look good and are dressed nicely. People will be arriving at the venue whereas the birthday boy or girl will still be at home preparing to enter by a fancy limousine or something. They will then do some sort of grand entrance and usually a performance such as a singing or dancing routine. Sometimes famous guests perform at a party such as Wiley. Then the party will really get going, sometimes with moments of controversy, before the parents tell their spoilt kid how much they love them before sending everyone outside usually to reveal a car. I am not giving away spoilers, this is just the format for every show with different people involved.

Sometimes the show will show special guests coming of age parties such as Chris Brown, Sean Kingston and Soulja Boy. On the whole, I only ever watch this if there is nothing on and as of yet I don't think I have seen someone who doesn't act like a spoilt child. The concept of the show is good, it is just the people on it make me loathe it. I prefer watching Made where it is nice to see some opposites to these characters get something good out of their experience.

Summary: A show where spoilt fifteen year olds, get an amazing party and present.

Just symbolises the 'spoil little brat' syndrome...
