====What Kind Of A Show?====

Well for anyone who doesn't know, Neighbours is a soap opera made in Australia. It's been running since 1986 and has produced the likes of Jason Donovon, Craig Mcloughlin and somebody called Kylie Minogue.

Unlike most British soaps, Neighbours has less yelling and screaming and sex is only hinted at, making it more suitable for young children.

====The Characters====

Harold Bishop
Probably the oldest resident of Ramsey Street now. Poor Harold first disappeared when he was washed out to sea and presumed dead, only to turn up five years later with amnesia. After being persuaded he was infact Harold and not Ted, he picked up where he left off with his wife Madge. Sadly Madge died of cancer a few years later, and he got involved with compulsive gambler Ruby. She skipped town and Harold had a stroke. This left the once "holier than thou" Salvation Army tuba player with a complete personality transplant. His bitterness nearly cost him the coffee shop he runs, but he gradually seems to be going back to "old Harold"

David Bishop
Harold's only son. He and his family came to stay with Harold after he had his stroke. After living a life of luxury, he faced hardship and now heand his wife are clawing back some much needed cash.

Liljana Bishop
David's psychic wife. She works at the doctor's surgery and reads coffee grounds inher spare time.

Serena Bishop
A spoiled little brat if you ask me! She founditvery difficult to adjust to a life without money. She got involved with pervert Chris the photographer who put pictures of her on the internet. She's now seeing Stingray.

Sky Mangel
Harold's grandaughter and David's neice. Her mother Kerry was shot when she was a toddler, leaving her to be brought up by her step-dad Joe Mangel.

Lou Carpenter
My favourite character. Poor Lou has gone from millionaire to almost pauper, thanks to his shady dealings with Rocko, the Italian gangster. Formerly a love rival to Harold, the pair have put aside their differences and become the best of friends. Not that the had much choic, seeingas Harold was the most compatable donor when Lou needed a new kidney. After serving a few weeks behind bars for cheating on a horse race, former Mayor Lou has just been released on community service. He runs the pub and car garage.

Max Hoyland
Used to work on an oil rig but returned to take care of his two kids, Boyd and Summer. After having their differences, he finally got it together with Steph Scully and the pair tied the knot a few weeks ago.

Izzy Hoyland
Max's scheming younger sister. After borrowing money from Max, she's bought a share in the coffee shop. She's currently making Karl believe he's the father to her unborn baby - who's real father is her one time fling Gus.

Boyd Hoyland
A skaterboy who's fallen for Sky. The pair have been on-off for ages now.

Summer Hoyland
A child who thinks she's a grown up - hey she is thirteen! She idolises Steph and is waiting to hear from her holiday romance.

Steph Scully
She's had a tough time. One of fiances left her at the alter for her kid sister, another was a criminal on the run before finally gettig right with Max. There relationship suffered after she discovered she had breast cancer.

Jack Scully
Playboy who won't grow up. He's just got the family business into serious trouble after becoming involved with dodgy cop Olivia and messing with drugs.

Karl Kennedy
The local GP who lie to conduct a"good bedside manner". He had an affair with his secretary Sarah before leaving his wife Susan for Izzy.

Susan Kennedy
Formerly the head of Erinsborough High, her career too a nose die after slipping whilst skinny dipping and getting amnesia. She now has regained her memory and is back teaching at the school. She's coming to terms with the break up of her marriage by turning Father Tom Scully away from the priesthood.

Libby Kennedy
Daughter of Karl and Susan. She was widowed when her husband Drew fell from a horse and died from his injuries. She's been left to bring up baby Ben alone. Left her teaching job after sleeping with a student and is now persuig a relationship with old flame Darren Stark.

Jarrod Rebecchi (Toadfish)
He first arrived in the street as a naughty school boy and was taken in by the Kennedy's. Now he's a successful lawyer. He lost his wife Dee on their wedding day after their car plumeted over a cliff. He's now with Sindy after fighting his emotions.

Connor O'Neill
Irish born lad who arrived on the street unable to read. He's now father to baby Maddy after having a one night stand with Lori.

Stuart Parker
After his engagement to Flick went down the pan, he's just qualified as a cop.

Scott Timmins (Stingray)
A hyperactive young lad, who'sjust been put on medication to calmhim down. Having been taken under his cousin Toadie's wing, he's now moved in with Susan. Currently in a rocky relationship with Serena.

Sindy Watts
Dappy and a newly discovered psychic, Sindy presented a failed TV show starring the Scully's. After having a dangerous relationship with Rocco, she's now happily involved with Toadie.

====Why Watch It====

It's harmless fun really. I find it's twenty minute in which I can just relax and switch off - no I don't mean the TV!

====Where and When?====

BBC1 1.40pm or 5.40pm if you missed lunch time.

I've not seen Neighbours in years... so I only recognise a few of those characters... nice to see some of them are still there! I used to watch it with my son when he was younger as it made a great way of starting conversations about "issues" that are hard to bring up naturally! Rxxx

Not my kind of show. At all. Still, excellent review - I wonder what the Neighbours version of Trekkie would be?...
