Advantages: Entertainment when you're eating your tea!

Disadvantages: Predictable, repetitive

Well, I'd imagine that there's no one on this planet that hasn't yet seen an episode of Neighbours. It's an Australian soap that must have been running for about 15 years. It's shown twice every weekday at 1:45 and repeated at 5:35 on channel one.

I will admit that I still watch it, however this is only because as a child I loved it. The whole Jason Donovan and Kylie Minogue phase is what drew me to the soap, but it has now changed so much that my opinion of it has changed greatly.

As it is a soap, of course we will have to put up with the soap type story lines. I do however think that Neighbours hasn't really caught up with others and still has terribly stereotypical characters. The story lines are very predictable but this is probably the key feature of any soap, and to be honest it's enough to keep me entertained for 25 minutes. Saying that though all of them are usually based on current issues or things that you can relate to yourself. But, again the problems arise when they are soooo exaggerated they become boring.

Characters leave in the usual soap style fashion, which can also be predictable i.e.; they either die, or break up from their current relationship and go in search of something new! But again it's enough to keep you amused for 25 minutes. At present there are lots of younger characters then there have been in the past. This sometimes can liven it up slightly. The characters have also become slightly more attractive!

Overall a good enough soap to entertain you each night, sometimes with a bit of a laugh. Don't completely dismiss this until you have watched it and can give your own opinion rather then adapting somebody else’s.
