Advantages: light hearted fun
Disadvantages: acting is a bit dodgy!
Ok i'm a fan I admit it-but youve got to give neighbours some credit its been running since 1985 and 17 years later is still goin strong(well in this country anyway). Whats it all about, I shall tell you.......... Its set in the fictional suburb of Melbourne called Erinsborough mainly centred around Ramsay Street a small close, where we find all our main chracters. It originally featured the Ramsay family (yes the street is named after them) and the Robinsons who had little digs at each other at times but never anything that serious. I must say the acting was a bit dodgy back then-but oz were not used to making soaps back in them days. Today unfortunately there is no Ramsay family left (madge having died last year, Charlene-kylie minogue, leaving for brisbane with her husband Scott Robinson-Jason donovan) about 12 years ago now who i must admit were my favourite characters. Madges ever-faithful God loving husband Harold is still with us and lodger/foster son Tad, along with next door neighbour Lou Carpenter-who has recently lost his daughter in a custody battle. The Scullys'-Lynn a local hairdresser, Joe a builder/taxidriver and daughters Flick, Steph and Michelle which interest the male viewers so ive heard lol. The Kennedys who have been around for a bout 7 years now and Ive grown quite fond of, comprising of Susan a school principal, Karl local gp and their daughter Libby and son-in-law Drew and their new addition Ben. We also have the "youngsters" household which comprises of Toadie a struggling but funny law student and his housemate Dee a local nurse. Finally we have the Hancocks a fairly new addition to Ramsay st, but I must say they dont work for me. Believe me ive given them a chance but over the past year they dont seem to have settled in and I have heard they are being written out (no loss to me I must say!) We see the ins and outs of wha
ts going on in their lives their work and their relationships. Not as dreary as Eastenders, more lighthearted fun although they have raised some taboo subjects throughout the years including adultery, pregnancy and death which no soap can seem to live without. It doesnt appeal to everyone I admit but personally I love the lighthearted side of it even if the acting isnt the greatest in the world! But do remember who has come out of neighbours i.e Kylie, Jason, Guy Pearce and even Russell Crowe had a small part many years ago. I think Neighbours is an australian constitution-may it be on our screens for many years to come!

- 03/04/02 Jim blob - Neighbours will never 'rock'. It may wobble, but rock, no.
Whitby - You need some counselling.
Trayo - What's for tea?
Gabbyevs - I like Neighbours too, all that mockery above is just a cover. |

- 16/03/02 hmm, neighbours fills a void between tea going in the oven and tea coming out of the oven, so I guess it has its place in life! |
|
- 08/03/02 Can TV get any better than this? I think not, Neighbours rocks big time and Harold is really God doing a second job.
