Advantages: Good Morals and Morale, Amusing and absurd storylines, Good ole tack!

Disadvantages: Taken off for Tennis!?, Not omnibus at weekends, Blokes aren't that good looking!

SO the world cup was bad enough. I embraced it with open arms, trying to convince my two blokey house mates that I can be a cool chick and try and understand their mad obsession. But even though football took over tv for a few weeks, it left my weakness in it's place, intact and undisturbed where it rightfully belongs. Yes I am talking about Neighbours. But unfortunately, I cannot embrace Wimbledon with the same kind of enthusiasm knowing that some uncaring bod will anounce without a flinch that Neighbours has been taken off the air for two weeks...!

I've found myself twidling my thumbs at 1.45pm and wondering what I should be doing at 5.45pm...but I REFUSE to watch tennis instead!

Nobody understands my interest. They laugh in my face when I explain why I scowl every time Wimbledon starts.

I can't help it...it's a part of me. I started watching it religiously when I was 7 and still watch it now 17 years later although not as religiously oweing to job)

I've laughed at Toadie, cried with Harold, and still get a tear whenever someone leaves to pursue a pop career...I even cried when Bouncer died... (yup I know...v. sad)

I know the acting isn't great, I've even classed it as mindless drivel myself from time to time, but something which lies within, woven between the tacky aussie script, is addictive!

My mum said that she used to talk with her friends about it when we were kids. How harmless it was to us, and how it covered lots of moral issues. This is still true now..you don't see any murders or sex scenes like Eastenders, but its still just as entertaining!

Now I'm distraught because I've read that they're going to axe it...what will I do!!
They've said that not even the aussies watch it now and that they make it only for us Brits. I'm hoping that it's maybe just a publicity stunt, so we'll all resort to watching it again...like when they sa
id they were ceasing to make salad cream and the the sales shot through the roof...I can only hope and keep my fingers crossed!

I know I'm not the only one who loves Neighbours..so do us all a favour and watch it every once in a while!!

Thanks for reading my rant!

Pickle xx

Not sure the axeing rumours are true - the people on alt.tv.neighbours seem of the opinion that it's just another rumour, though it's no secret that numbers are well down on where they used to be.

You're right about the viewing figures - in Oz, Home and Away is *far* more popular than Neighbours, which is a shame, as H&A has become so depressing recently that I need Neighbours to provide that all-important humour injection!

I kick myself for watching this each day, although when it comes back i'll be back in front of the screen.

Yes, why do they have to take off BOTH episodes?? Not fair is it!
