Advantages: Concise and interesting, less doom and gloom

Newsround is a news programme with a difference in that it is for kids. It has been running for many years now, and used to be presented by John Craven. In fact, it used to be entitled John Craven's Newsround, before he left the programme, and now presents Countryfile instead.

Newsround differs in that it tells news stories with a little less doom and gloom than the regular news snippets can give us, and also in a shorter more concise way that holds children's attention a little better. It is a good way of getting the news to the kids without them having to sit through an entire news programme and get bored by the length and the content.

Newsround has a more upbeat feel to it than other news programmes, mainly because it is directed at kids, and it also has some more interesting news snippets featured on it, news stories that may not be of such national importance as the main news, but are just nice and interesting to kids, and I sometimes find myself watching this news as opposed to the main news, seeking isntead to look in the papers or online for main news while getting a more interesting and upbeat bulletin from Newsround.

While this is a nice temporary break from the doom and gloom news, it does not, however, give a complete national update, merely what may be relevant to children of various ages. As such, Newsround is limited and doesn't give full scope of the news out there, but then it is designed for kids, so this comes as no surprise. I recommend this as a news programme in general, but mainly for kids. It continues to air and continues to remain a vdry popular programme.
