Nighty Night is another of my favourite tv comedy series. Like Leauge of Gentelmen or Black Books in its style of dark comedy.

The series was written for the BBC by Julia Davis, Julia also stars in the show as Jill Tyrell who, in her words, is "a 'mid 20's' widow, with a lust of life and a flexible spine."

Jill owns a beauty salon and lives in your average suburban area, so it all seems pretty normal, well it is, its Jill that isn't.

Jills husband, Terry, has been diagnosed with cancer, he goes through treatment and is given the all clear. Unluckily for Jill, this wasn't good news, Jill was hoping Terry would die so he didn't get in the way of her pursuing her new neighbour, Don, played by Angus Deayton.

Don and his wife Cath move into the house across the road and this starts an unhealthy obsession with Don. Jill befriends Don's disabled and very well mannered wife Cath, feeling she isn't getting anywere, Jill fakes her own husbands death and uses this to get closer and closer to Don, eventually moving into their home, without their permission and attempting to seduce him, and at times his son, whilst being as horrible, but in a nice way, to Cath.

There is so much to tell you about this show, but I wouldn't wan't to spoil it. A lot of people I know haven't heard of it and after me forcing them to watch it now love it. This is the first series of 2, you really need to see this one before the second one, as all of the character's personalities are developed in the first few episodes.

There are 6 episodes in series one, there aren't many special features just out-takes and deleted scenes, but theses are pretty funny its nice to see that the actors are actually enoying making the show and having a laugh.

Julia Davis is in my opinion a fantastic comedy writer, this show was so original. If you liked The Leauge of Gentlemen and Black Books you'll like this.

Summary: Jill Tyrell, mid 20's video with a passion for life and a flexible spine

I watched the first series but didn't really like it all that much. Haven't bothered since.

If she's mid 20's I'm a supermodel! I love the show though.
